Isa had her First Holy Communion last weekend, and today she celebrated her second Communion for the Crowning of Mary. Full transparency — I am not Catholic. I was raised Christian, and probably in a much less traditional “rock and roll church” kind of way. But to me, any presence of God in my daughter’s life and education is a beautiful thing, and as she grows, she’ll be free to choose her own path and relationship with faith. I’ll be honest, I had no clue what I was doing during service at first. There are so many traditions and customs that are different from what I’m used to. Last weekend, I stubbornly took Communion anyway, and God laughed at me when I completely messed up the process. So today, I stepped back respectfully instead and bowed out. In my head I’m thinking, “Wait a second… I’ve been baptized, I gave my life to the Lord, Jesus is for me too!!” But this moment wasn’t about me — it was about honoring the commitment, preparation, and hard work my daughter has put into reaching this milestone. And wow… she was absolutely radiant!! Helping her get ready for these special days, seeing her look like a little princess and slowly grow into a young lady, was emotional in the most beautiful way. I am beyond proud of her heart, her innocence, her dedication, and the beautiful spirit she carries! She’s a chip off the ol block if I don’t say so myself :P And these are the moments a mother never forgets!! I will cherish these photos and memories for the rest of my life, and I tip my hat to the Catholic community and traditions for creating such a meaningful experience for these children. Most importantly, I’m grateful that my daughter is growing up with love, faith, and God in her heart. 🤍 May God Bless her and keep her protected all the days of her life !! . . . #firstcommunion #crowningofmary #catholic #christians #god
