You didn’t get the role.
And suddenly your brain starts telling you stories.
“Maybe I’m not talented enough.”
“Maybe I’ll never make it.”
“Everyone else is better than me.”
“Maybe I should just stop trying.”
But here’s the truth:
Rejection is one of the most misinterpreted experiences in the performing arts.
Your brain tries to turn a single moment into a permanent identity.
One audition becomes:
“I’m not good enough.”
One callback you didn’t get becomes:
“I’m behind.”
One role someone else booked becomes:
“They’re better than me.”
But auditions are not verdicts on your worth.
They are casting puzzles.
Sometimes they already had someone who looked like a sibling to another actor.
Sometimes they needed someone taller, shorter, older, younger.
Sometimes they wanted a completely different vibe in the room.
Most often, they already had a vision before you even walked in.
And sometimes…
you were actually really good.
You just weren’t the exact puzzle piece this production needed.
Here are a few lies rejection loves to whisper:
✨ “Everyone else is ahead of me.”
You’re seeing people’s highlight reels. Not their 200 “no’s.”
✨ “If I were truly talented, I would book more.”
Talent is only one tiny piece of casting.
✨ “I embarrassed myself.”
Most panels are rooting for you. They want you to succeed.
✨ “Maybe this means I’m not meant to do this.”
If rejection meant “not meant for it,” there would be no working performers on earth.
The truth?
Every performer you admire has walked out of hundreds of rooms without the role.
But they kept showing up.
Not because it was easy.
Because they loved the craft more than they feared rejection.
And here’s something no one talks about enough:
Auditions are not just about booking.
They are about becoming.
Every audition teaches you something about your voice, your presence, your courage, and your resilience.
The performers who last in this industry aren’t the ones who never get rejected.
They’re the ones who learn how to separate their worth from the outcome.

One photo. That’s all it took to lose a Disney contract. 💀
I can’t thank president @tinacontogenis from @eristalentagency enough for keeping it 100 with us. Most people in the industry won’t tell you this, but your digital footprint is essentially your second resume. If you’re gunning for those major network roles, double check those socials!
Tina is dropping absolute GEMS go follow her page for more!
Drop a “🙌” in the comments if you’re going to go scrub your socials right now! And a huge shoutout to Tina for not gatekeeping the reality of today’s industry. We need more of this!

DAY 24 OF @stanforcreators #standaretopost
ARE YOU WATCHING THE OSCARS?
As part of my March refresh/revamp/lock-in (inspired and supported by a recent reel @angel_edme posted), I want to get better at posting the behind the scenes/process that lead to the wins as a creative. I am new to this, as so many others, and that should be reason enough to share.
So let’s highlight some self tapes from 2025: The first year BOOKING as a professional actor!
-
-
-
2025: Hundreds of submissions, about 40 self tapes, 10 in person auditions, a small handful of open calls… 4 theater performances and 5 print/commercial bookings!!
It’s no small feat, it’s hard to be consistent, but finding the joy and growth within it all was the revelation last year. It was the first year I really began to trust my work, craft, and process I bring as an actor, and to really focus on what I can control and bring to each self tapes, pitch tape, and character I do. And I think it paid off, not just in the room, but in my soul; so let’s see what all this brings to 2026! Let’s keep rocking on.

Listen… she’s booked things before. I’m not risking it. And at this point I’m convinced the top deserves it’s own IMDB page 😂 #actorproblems #relatable #selftapes
