We made our firstborn cry on her 10th birthday… 🥹🤍
We asked Kyra what she wanted for her birthday and, being Kyra, she said she didn’t want anything. She just wanted us to surprise her with something memorable.
So we made her an album.
An album filled with memories from when she was little — photos, little moments, all the things we love about her, prayers for her future, reminders of who she is, and words we pray she carries with her as she grows.
Words to remind her that she doesn’t have to be perfect.
That she doesn’t have to have everything figured out.
That she is already enough.
That she is deeply loved.
And most importantly, that she is a child of God, created with a purpose and held in His hands.
We are also so grateful for all her Sunday School teachers and her close friends who write her a little card, she is super blessed to have you all indeed ❤️
While putting it together, we realised we weren’t just making her a birthday present. We weregiving her something far more meaningful than a gift.
The toys will be outgrown.
The clothes will become too small.
The parties will eventually blur into memories.
But we pray this is something she can hold onto.
Something she can open years from now and remember the little girl she was. Something that reminds her how deeply she has always been loved. Something she can turn to on the days she needs to remember who she is.
If you’re a parent, start documenting the little things. Write down what you love about them. Save the photos. Write the prayers you have for their future. Tell them the things you hope they never forget.
Because one day, the gifts may be forgotten, but the words that tell them who they are, how loved they are, and how God has carried them can stay with them for a lifetime.
10 years of memories.
10 years of prayers.
10 years of God’s goodness.
And a lifetime still ahead. 🤍
Happy 10th birthday, Kyra Grace.
You are one of the greatest gifts God has ever entrusted to us.
We love you more than words could ever fit into an album. 🥹🤍

Throwback to when we dropped our firstborn off to half day kindergarten (I’d never put any of my kids in any kind of school or daycare so I was EMOTIONAL) and Ryan was more concerned with the dynamics of the school parking lot. Happy back to school season yall 😂
Some daughters don’t just make you a mother… they make you meet yourself again. 🎀
Having my firstborn be a girl has challenged me to heal parts of myself I didn’t even realize were still hurting. Because while I’m raising her, I’m also watching her watch me.
She watches how I speak to myself.
How I receive love.
How I set boundaries.
How I handle disappointment.
How I take care of myself.
And what I tolerate.
And that made me realize something: I can’t teach her a version of womanhood I’m unwilling to live.
So spiritually, I believe raising a daughter can invite a woman into deeper healing:
1. She can awaken your inner child.
You become intentional about giving her what you once needed.
2. She can challenge the way you love yourself.
Because eventually you realize she may learn how to treat herself by watching how you treat you.
3. She can expose generational patterns that need to end.
Not everything passed down deserves to keep passing down.
4. She can call forth another level of your femininity.
Softness, wisdom, discernment, strength, nurture and boundaries can all coexist.
5. She can mirror places that still need healing.
Sometimes what triggers us in our daughters isn’t about them at all. It’s an invitation to look inward.
I don’t believe our children are responsible for healing us. That work belongs to us. But I do believe God can use motherhood to reveal what He wants to heal, mature and restore in us.
And maybe part of raising a healed daughter…
is allowing God to heal the woman raising her. 🤍
“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3 NIV

A little throwback that still gets me every time.🥺
No one prepares you for how emotional it is to hold your first baby before leaving to have your next.
He was still my baby, just no longer my only baby🤍

Context : He really did hate me just because I was a girl & he wanted a son as his firstborn. I’m not posting for likes and attention, I already get that a lot, I’m finally posting this publicly because I’ve mustered courage to talk about it. Why the hell will I sit quiet? And for those asking why I’m talking about it now and why I’m talking about it so publicly and what will my haters say and all that, excuse me? It’s because you find your courage in the smallest things and this song gave me the strength to finally be able to talk about my childhood so openly. These acts should be outed, and no it’s not because my brother was smaller so he was carrying him. I don’t have any pictures with him from my childhood because his family and him didn’t even want to carry me when I was born. And his son is exactly like him. My dad used to beat me ( up until I was 19) and so did my brother up until last year. It’s in my story highlight named - situation. Go check it and stop commenting and justifying men’s behaviour which is not supposed to be encouraged. Some of you men make me wish yall never have daughters because check the comments. At the same time some men in the comments are so kind. Kindly learn. As for the girls. I love yall. Also my dad was unemployed for a good 12-14 years and never paid for anything for me. My mother used to work alone and go through so much financially for him. She was the only person who was working in my house and she is so brave and commendable for doing it all alone and looking after us. So don’t come @ me saying “ oh but he put so much money on you” no bitch he didn’t. Go find someone else to defend. Not this man.
but well, atleast I’m funny so thanks dad 👍🏽
