Week 9 ✅ This week was a difficult one. Physically, I just didn’t feel right. Higher heart rate. Exhaustion. No energy. A feeling that I might be getting sick, although without a fever, so I kept questioning what was actually going on. And that makes training decisions hard. Do I push through? Do I take a rest day? Am I listening to my body… or am I just looking for an excuse? Because when you have a goal, resting can sometimes feel like giving up. And then the mind starts to spiral. 🤯 So instead of getting caught up in that chaos, I tried to use the things I also teach others: breathing, grounding, body awareness and relaxation techniques. Trying to slow down enough to actually listen to what my body was trying to tell me. Not every difficult feeling needs to be solved immediately. Sometimes it’s okay to let it be. Taking a rest day doesn’t make me weak. Running slower doesn’t mean I’ve lost my fitness. And one difficult week doesn’t erase all the work I’ve already done. Knowing this is one thing. Actually feeling it, and finding peace in it, is something much harder. Some runs this week felt like a marathon in themselves, even when they were only 12K and much slower than planned. ‘How will I ever be able to run a marathon like this?’ 🤯🤢. That thought went through my mind so many times this week. And of course, that brings doubts. Doubts I don’t want to push away, but I also don’t want to give them more power than they deserve. So I’m trying to acknowledge them without letting them take over. 12 weeks to Valencia. 🫶🏻 Still a long way to go. Still a lot of work to do. And maybe not every week will look the way I want it to. But that’s part of the process too. 🖤 Interval sessions this week: 🏃‍♀️ 4 km warm-up 5–4–3–2–1 km threshold 4 km cool-down 🏃‍♀️ 4 km warm-up 2 × 7 km sub-threshold 2 km cool-down #runtherapy #dreamnumberfive #firstmarathon #runningcommunity #marathon

Sydney Marathon week! 💙 So for anyone about to run their first marathon, this one’s for you… 6 things I wish I knew before running my first marathon at 41: 1️⃣ Trust that the training is enough. Stop second-guessing yourself. You’ve done enough. Yes, you have. If you’ve done the work, trust the process. You do not need to prove in training that you can already run 42.2km. Believe that your body is ready to finish. 2️⃣ Taper week will mess with your head. 🤣 Heavy legs. Random niggles. Suddenly questioning whether you’ve lost all your fitness. Is that pain actually there or am I imagining it?! 😂 Don’t panic. Trust the taper. By race day, you’ll be ready to go. 3️⃣ Have a race plan and stick to it. Know your pacing, fuelling and strategy before you start. The excitement of race day makes it very easy to go out harder than planned. Stick to the goddamn plan 🤣 4️⃣ Carb loading can make you feel heavy and flat. Don’t panic. That extra stored energy is exactly what you’re going to need later in the race. Trust it. 5️⃣ The crowd and other runners will carry you more than you think. When it gets hard, soak it all in. The noise, the cheers and the runners around you can give you a lift you simply can’t recreate in training. 6️⃣ Nothing really prepares you for how 35km can feel. Your body may hurt in ways you’ve never experienced before. This is where your mind takes over. Break it down. The next kilometre. The next landmark. The next cheer squad. Your mind can carry you home. And one last thing… enjoy it. You only ever get ONE first marathon. Take it all in. 💙 Good luck to everyone running Sydney this weekend. You’ve done the work. Now go enjoy your victory lap! 🏃🏻‍♀️ Follow along as I work my way back to marathon no.9 🤞 #RunWithRach #SydneyMarathon #FirstMarathon #MarathonRunning #WomenWhoRun
I couldn’t even my music most of the race… 🥹❤️ The most supportive crowd 😭 #chicago #chicagomarathon #running #firstmarathon
10+ miles. 1:55. By myself. 🏃🏽‍♀️ Fastest 10K ✅ Fastest 10 miles ✅ And somehow I finished feeling good enough to do a freaking cartwheel. 😂 These are the runs that make me realize how much progress I’ve actually made. Little by little, 26.2 is starting to feel a lot less insane. 🥹 Coach by @sustained.approach #MarathonTraining #LongRun #RunningJourney #FirstMarathon #gymsharkwomen
6000!! 🥹🩷 The running community is the best! When I started running last year I didn’t want to tell anyone. I was scared I would fail and look ridiculous. But there was a spark that I felt that I couldn’t deny. I was getting my joy back. And the more I ran and trained, the more I wanted everyone to feel that too. There is something remarkable about learning just how capable you are. I’ll keep sharing in case maybe one person is inspired to just start. It might change your life like it has mine!
