And if we really wanted to get into the weeds, children are most often exposed to formaldehyde via the air they breathe. The EPA under this administration *doubled* the amount of formaldehyde considered “safe” to inhale so if you are actually concerned about carcinogens that seems like a reasonable place to start? But hey— a grifters gotta grift🫡🤑 #motherhood #childrenshealth #firsttimemom #toddler Mom of 2 pregnancy toddler children’s health formaldehyde cold and flu season breastfeeding
🔥 Before you spend $30 on cold & flu supplements, make this at home instead! 🍯🌶️ Cold and flu season is creeping in, and this is one of those simple homemade preparations I like having ready to go: FIRE HONEY. 🔥 It combines honey with ginger, turmeric, Ceylon cinnamon, cayenne and black pepper - ingredients that have been used traditionally for generations and contain some fascinating bioactive compounds. 🍯 Honey — Research suggests honey can help soothe coughs and other upper-respiratory symptoms. 🌿 Ginger — Contains gingerols and has particularly good evidence supporting its use for nausea and digestive discomfort. 🟡 Turmeric — Provides curcumin, which has been extensively studied for its effects on inflammatory and oxidative-stress pathways. 🌶️ Cayenne — Contains capsaicin, which activates heat-sensing TRPV1 receptors and gives Fire Honey its characteristic warming kick. ⚫ Black pepper — Provides piperine, which can substantially increase the bioavailability of curcumin. 🤎 Ceylon Cinnamon — Provides polyphenols and other antioxidant compounds while adding that classic warming flavor. 🔥 FIRE HONEY RECIPE • ½ cup organic honey • ½ tsp Ceylon cinnamon • ½ tsp ground ginger • ½ tsp ground turmeric • ½ tsp cayenne (adjust to your heat tolerance) • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper (adjust to your pepper tolerance) Optional: ½ tsp finely grated dried orange peel or a pinch of clove. METHOD Put the honey in a clean, completely dry glass jar. Add the ginger, turmeric, cinnamon, black pepper and ¼ tsp cayenne to start. Stir slowly and thoroughly until no dry pockets remain. Taste after a few minutes and add more cayenne in small pinches until you reach your preferred heat level. Cap and let stand for 12–24 hours to allow the flavors to bloom and meld. Give it another stir before serving if the spices settle. 🔥 Save this recipe now so you have it when cold weather arrives - and share it with someone who needs to make a jar! #FireHoney #FireHoneyRecipe #ImmuneSupport #coldandflutemedy
Your Abuela’s Fire Cider 🫶🏽 Every flu season, our abuelas had a jar going in the back of the kitchen pantry. No pharmacy trip, no big cabinet full of medicines. Just a big mason jar of vinegar, chile, and herbs and natural spices that had been sitting since August, waiting for the first cough of the year. A spoonful in the morning, one before bed. That was the whole system. This is that same remedy, made the traditional way: raw apple cider vinegar, chile de árbol, jamaica, cúrcuma fresca, and 12 cloves of garlic infused cold for 4 weeks, no heat, no shortcuts. Just time doing the work. And there’s real science behind why it worked: 🧄 Garlic → allicin, formed the moment it’s crushed. It’s the primary antimicrobial compound in the jar, and raw infusion preserves far more of it than cooking ever could. 🌿 Turmeric + black pepper → curcumin is barely absorbed on its own. Piperine (from the pepper) blocks the enzyme that breaks it down, so the two together do far more than either alone this is the actual pairing, not a guess. 🌶️ Chile de árbol → capsaicin is a vasodilator. It’s why spicy food clears your sinuses and gets circulation moving when you’re congested. 🌺 Jamaica → vitamin C and anthocyanins, the same antioxidant family found in berries. 🍯 Finished with raw honey after straining (never) during the infusion. I’m chopping all this down with my @nwknifeworks 8” chef knife, and it makes cooking twice as clean and twice as fast. Our abuelas didn’t have the vocabulary for “allicin” or “piperine.” They just knew it worked, and they were right. 📩 DM me “FIRE” 🔥 for the full recipe card and the science behind it, and follow @theerickespana so you don’t miss what’s next.
Flu and Covid vaccines are here, finally! I’m always first in line to get mine. Anytime in the next few months is ok but I’m a big fan of getting early because it’s a bird in the hand and earlier exposure. Some people try to game the system and wait a bit so they have longer protection if the season is longer. But I see flu season earlier and earlier these years and I have early exposure with hospital work and school age kids. Rather get the early protection! Also your reminder that the antivaccine propaganda minimizing how serious and worth preventing the flu is is dangerous horrible nonsense. Don’t listen. I’ve seen flu deaths. I see kids suffer in the hospital from the flu every year. I also don’t have time to miss work and life and be miserable with the flu! Forget the noise. Questions? I’m here to help! #flu #covid #vaccines #parent #parentlikeapediatrician
Flu season is coming, and this is one of those things you want sitting in your pantry before everyone in the house starts sniffling. 🧄🍯 FERMENTED GARLIC HONEY aka nature’s medicine. Garlic contains sulfur compounds such as allicin, which have been studied for antimicrobial and immune supporting properties. Raw honey contains antioxidants and has evidence for soothing coughs and irritated throats. HOW TO MAKE IT: 1. Peel enough fresh garlic cloves to fill a clean glass jar about ½–⅔ full. 2. Lightly crush each clove to release its beneficial compounds. 3. Cover completely with raw, local honey, leaving some room at the top. 4. Stir so every clove is coated. 5. Close the jar loosely and keep it at room temperature, away from direct sunlight. 6. For the first week or two, “burp” the jar daily to release built-up gas and flip/stir it so the garlic stays coated. 7. Let it ferment for at least a few weeks. The longer it sits, the deeper and mellower it gets. I love starting this BEFORE cold and flu season so it’s already waiting in the pantry when I want it. Take a little spoonful, drizzle it over food, or add it to warm not boiling tea. One of the simplest ancestral remedies: two ingredients, garlic + honey. Save this now and make a jar for your household before flu season hits. 🧄🍯follow @victoria__benitez for more health tips #health
Cold and flu season is here! My little one has been taking the alcohol-free version, and so far, her cough seems to be improving. 🤧 Ingredients: • Raw honey • Whole cloves • Red onion • Fresh turmeric Adults-only version: • Haitian Rhum Barbancourt Optional traditional step: Rub a small amount of Lwil Maskriti onto the body. This is for external use only, patch-test first and avoid the face, eyes, and irritated or broken skin. This is a traditional home remedy and not a cure for a cold or the flu. Never give children the alcohol version. Honey should not be given to children under 1. #ColdSeason #HomeRemedy #HaitianTraditions

An oldie but a goodie. The IGY remains one of our most popular sellers, and there is a good reason it has stood the test of time. Its benefits work on two fronts. Recovery and immune support. Traditionally, this was the supplement people reached for heading into flu season and the winter months. A way to support the immune system right when it faces its biggest challenges. That still holds true. But something has shifted. Active people and regular exercisers are now taking it year round. Because recovery is not seasonal. Whether your body is recovering from training, from stress, or from the everyday demands of a full life, the support it provides applies twelve months a year. And it could not be easier to work into your routine. Most people scoop it into their protein shakes. It even mixes into coffee, just let the coffee cool first before adding it. Simple to take. Broad in benefit. And proven enough that it has never fallen out of favor. You can find the IGY at your local @serotonincenters. Cold + flu season is coming…. Blood orange, lemon, ginger, garlic, red onion, all with the peel (except the garlic and onion - wash everything first!), simmered in filtered water for 10 minutes. If you want more drinks like this - comment DRINKS and I’ll send you my guide, Beyond the Plate: Healing Drinks for Optimal Health. 35+ recipes I actually make, for inflammation, gut, hormones and energy! Saw this from @lo.reyez and had to try🫶 The combination of onion and garlic is one of the most powerful natural expectorants there is (meaning if you have mucus sitting in your chest or throat, this is going to help move it out) and the quercetin in onion literally breaks it down. The ginger and garlic together are deeply anti-inflammatory - they work on the same pathways as ibuprofen, without the gut damage. And the blood orange and lemon aren’t just for this gorgggg color - the vitamin C and bioflavonoids support your immune response and help your body actually use the anti-inflammatory compounds in the rest of the ingredients.
One of my favorite little God remedies to have on hand 👏🏼 • Peel fresh garlic cloves, cut off ends & slice in half or poke hole in middle • Add to a clean glass jar • Pour raw, local honey over the garlic until completely covered • Give it a stir + put the lid on • Let it sit on the counter for a few weeks, “burp it” by opening the lid once a day to let gas out for 2 weeks! Then store in fridge!! The garlic and honey will naturally ferment together and you’ll end up with this sweet + garlicky goodness! Garlic contains allicin and other compounds with antimicrobial properties & Honey can soothe a scratchy/sore throat and has antioxidant properties!!! Perfect for a simple, natural pantry staple to have on hand during cold & flu season #homeremedies #garlichoney #momsofinstagram #naturalmedicine
this is not WOO WOO!! it’s well documented that garlic + honey have medicinal properties. i make this every summer so it’s ready before cold + flu season! here’s what it does⤵️ • amazing for cough!! studies show honey can reduce cough frequency + severity + improve sleep, often working better than OTC cough medicine 👏🏻🙌🏻, which isn’t proven to help young kids + can carry side effects. 🤯 • soothes sore throats • antimicrobial, antiviral, + antifungal • supports gut + immune health • full of antioxidants (protects your cells from damage) • garlic may reduce BP + cholesterol how to make it: • fill a clean, COMPLETELY dry glass jar halfway with peeled garlic. trim the ends + give each clove one light smash, that activates the allicin (the compound behind the benefits) + helps it infuse. let it sit 10 minutes before adding honey. • pour raw, unfiltered honey over the top until the garlic is fully covered. add a small splash of raw apple cider vinegar for extra acidity + safety. leave room at the top, it bubbles! if you have a fermentation weight, pop it in to keep everything submerged, that’s what protects it from mold. • seal loosely, burp it daily (open the lid, let air out), + flip the jar. • keep it in a dark cabinet. ready in 3-4 weeks, the longer it ferments the more medicinal 🪄 ❗️IMPORTANT❗️ • NO honey for babies under 1 year old how i use it: a spoonful of honey when you’re feeling under the weather, or eat a clove. i give my kids a spoonful 1-2x a day when they’re sick + it works wonders! have you used this for sick season?? screenshot this + start now so it’s ready before everyone gets sick 😭 with back to school + sick season coming, i’ll be sharing EVERYTHING i do to keep my family healthy + support our bodies through illness. follow @kayla_elise_holistic so you dont miss it!
