Did you know how black PU foam mats can be made as one giant rising block on a conveyor? 🖤🧪 In this process, 2 nozzles pour liquid polyurethane chemicals onto a long moving belt. The reaction starts almost immediately, and the black mass expands into foam while the conveyor carries it forward. In continuous slabstock PU foam production, the foam can rise within seconds and grow into very long blocks before it fully solidifies.  The high sidewalls keep the fresh foam in shape while it is still soft and rising. Later, those side belts peel away and reveal one long foam block with clean sides. After that, the block is usually cut down with saws into usable mat sizes or other foam products. Typical slabstock blocks are later cut to length and further processed after curing.  What makes this process so fascinating is that the final foam shape is not made in a closed mold at all.
