Big news!! ✈️ #ForeFlight Pilot game changer: You now have a way more simplified way to visualize and fly instrument approaches on ForeFlight. Dynamic Procedures is a brand new capability on ForeFlight rolling out in late July to give pilots more options to see the approach chart and information where and when they need it. New enhancements: ✅ MSA (Minimum Safe Altitude) ring on sectional chart with approach chart overlay. ✅ Sidebar feature that gives you all the pertinent approach information such as radio frequencies, fixes, altitudes, missed approach, and a 3D view of the airport environment. ✅ 3D airport view of the airport in daytime and nighttime conditions. Feature release: The week of July 28. These new features do not replace using in referencing approach charts, it simply gives more options to see the chart and approach information where and when you need it, especially during high workload environments for single pilots operations like I’m flying. LiveATC is an excellent tool to use if you’re trying to stay proficient in your ATC communication or if you’re just learning! Simply put in the airport code and listen to how pilots and ATC speak so you know what to expect when it’s your turn to do the speaking. Sporty’s Learn to Fly Course is another great tool for you to study for your FAA written exams. Whether you’re doing private, instrument, et cetera, this course will go through more than just test memorization. With videos and helpful guidance, you should have no problem passing that written. Flightradar24 is a great app to use if you’re wanting to watch your friends, family, instructors, or whoever on their flight. Flying a jet is about flying fast…and strategy. ✈️ Winds can change drastically between altitudes, and sometimes that “fuel-efficient” higher altitude is actually where the worst headwinds live. That means slower ground speed, more burn, and less performance — the opposite of what we want. That’s why during the flight I’m constantly checking ForeFlight’s Altitude Advisor and winds aloft tools to see exactly what the wind is doing at different heights — all the way up through the FL450. It shows headwinds, tailwinds, and estimated ground speed so I can make smart, real-time decisions instead of guessing. Often we’ll do something called a step climb — leveling off for a while, getting lighter as we burn fuel, then climbing higher later when the airplane can perform more efficiently. But if the winds aloft are stronger up high, staying lower can actually be the better move. Every flight is different. The goal isn’t just altitude — it’s choosing the level that gives us the best combination of speed, efficiency, and performance that day. Fuel saved. Time optimized. Flying with intention from takeoff to touchdown. #ForeFlight #aviation #flight #ad #partnership
