Thank you for sending my mom love, prayers, and support 🫶 Surgery went as well as could be expected, although she may need more down the road ❤️🩹

Proximal Femoral Nail PFN A2 Long‼️👀🦴🛠
It is an orthopedic surgical implant, specifically a state-of-the-art intramedullary nail used to treat fractures in the upper part of the femur, also named Anti-Rotation Proximal Femoral Nail II.
It is an evolution of the original PFN nail (developed in 1997) and is designed to offer greater stability in hip fractures, especially in geriatric patients with osteoporotic bones.
What is the PFN A2 for?
Its main function is the stable fixation and immobilization of fractures in the proximal area of the femur to allow bone consolidation and rapid rehabilitation of the patient. It is specifically used for:
🦴Intertrochanteric and unstable fractures: They are the main use, especially those common in older people due to osteoporosis.
🦴Pertrochanteric fractures: Fractures that pass through the trochanteric region.
🦴Subtrochanteric fractures: Fractures located just below the trochanters.
🦴Optimized for narrower and shorter femurs.
Main Features of the PFN A2
💥Helical Blade: Instead of the two conventional screws, the PFNA2 uses a single spiral-shaped blade that is introduced into the femoral neck. This compacts the cancellous bone around it, which improves anchorage and prevents "cut-out" (the screw cutting through the bone and failing).
💥Rotational stability: The helical blade provides great resistance against rotation of the femoral head and varus collapse.
💥Material: It is usually made of titanium alloys or stainless steel.
💥Closed technique: Its insertion is minimally invasive, which reduces blood loss, the risk of infections and surgery time.
-Advantages of the PFN A2 system
⚙️ Fewer complications: The design improves fixation in weak bones (osteoporotic).
⚙️ Quick mobilization: Allows the patient to support their weight shortly after surgery.
⚙️ Functional result: Offers high bone union rates and better short-term functional results.

My Fracture healing Tips
1. Be compliant with treatment. Your doctor knows best when it comes to fixing your problem. Compliance is key every step of the way. This is a team effort between You And Your Doctor.
2. Increase your protein intake. The body tissues are made of protein, and after a fracture, it is in rebuild mode. Basic materials are necessary. It is recommended we consume approximately 1 g of protein per pound of body weight.
3. Increase your vitamin D3 intake. Most people are low on vitamin D3, which is necessary for strong bones, as well as other functions.
4. Avoid long-term anti-inflammatory use. NSAIDs, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories block prostaglandin production, which is necessary for bone healing, so they may interfere or delay on healing. I allow my patients to take NSAIDs for the first 7 to 10 days.
5. Avoid smoking or vaping if you do. Smoking constricts small vessels to the bones and skin. It is related to non-union and wound problems. If there is no blood, there is no oxygen. We need Oxygen.
6. Control your blood sugar if you are diabetic. Diabetics may take twice as longer to heal from an injury as the disease affects the entire body, including cell migration, which is important for healing.

Two decades ago, I wrote that wrist #fractures are an early warning sign of #osteoporosis—and today the data fully supports it. Wrist fractures are now considered sentinel fractures, meaning they often signal underlying bone weakening.
In women, wrist fractures become increasingly common after age 60. In men, a wrist fracture without trauma is especially important to take seriously.
If a wrist fracture occurs, it’s a sign to look deeper at bone strength and take proactive steps to protect overall skeletal health. Learn how to uncover your true risk, go beyond calcium myths, and strengthen your bones — naturally and confidently. 🌿

what did you guys think of the music video for 12 fractures?? 🤨
I personally loved it! I thought it was shot super well, it looked amazing! I enjoyed the concept a lot for the video
Show my mom some love in the comments 🙏 She will cherish every single one.
Even with proper treatment, this can happen (she’s had her bone density monitored and optimized for years).
Make sure to take every precaution possible to prevent terrible accidents like this!! 😭
