Richard Dawkins argues If a scripture contains passages that appear to point in different directions, the question becomes: Who gets to decide which verse is the “right” one? Do we follow the text literally? Do we interpret it through historical context? Do we choose the verse that fits our morality today? And if a supposedly perfect revelation requires humans to constantly reconcile, reinterpret, or choose between conflicting passages, what does that tell us about the claim that it is the word of God? The point isn't to tell anyone what to believe.
