Freedom Acres Ranch needs our support
Several of our Brown Berets went to @freedomacresranchco to assist with planting trees, including one donated by our unit!
Please be sure to visit them and show support to Freedom Acres Ranch, good folks who have been experiencing major harassment on their land. Black owned family ranch out in Yoder by Colorado Springs.

There are always some people who have ill intentions please make sure you do your due diligence to research who you are supporting. Below are a few examples of legitimate causes. #farmlife #savethefarm
The Smith Family Farm (Sparta, Georgia) – Facing land seizure by a private railroad company using eminent domain.
Freedom Acres Ranch (Colorado) – Facing ongoing community harassment and direct safety threats.
Sylvanaqua Farms (Virginia / DC area) – Facing high infrastructure costs and systemic barriers to scaling.
Small-Scale Dairy Operations (e.g., individual growers supported by the FARMS nonprofit) – Facing high feed costs and foreclosure threats.
Ever been to a Black owned ranch?
I had the pleasure of joining @narebdenver as they took community members on a shuttle to Yonder, Colorado to celebrate the anniversary of the Fair Housing Act while visiting Freedom Acres Ranch @freedomacresranchco
Even though they deal with unnecessary harassment these Black farmers still choose to thrive and keep pressing forward.
& we can support their continued success and safety by showing up so they know they are not alone and so others know that they can’t get away with treating people unfairly.
You can support by visiting, telling others about it, and learning more about who they are and what you can do to help stop the harassment they are experiencing.
Even if you can’t make it you can still make orders for what they offer from their farm for local delivery.
When I went, I got some eggs, sourdough bread and honey, but I wanna go back and get more.
Can you believe they even have to deal with this in 2026?!
Don’t forget to like, save, share, and support.
I’ll be back each week with more Black owned spaces, places, and things here in Colorado and beyond.

On 1,000 acres east of Colorado Springs, Freedom Acres Ranch stands as one of the largest Black owned farms in the nation. Founded in 2020 by Courtney and Nicole Mallery, its roots run deep born from a mission to fight food deserts, teach sustainable farming, and bring fresh healthy food to underserved communities. Through harassment, threats, and hardship, they have held the line turning their land into a beacon of resilience, healing, and hope. Special thanks to Mo’ Betta Green and Miss Beverly for making this visit possible. #FarmersSaveLives #FreedomAcres #BlackLandBack #AgricultureIsPower #mobettagreen
Yesterday the Freedom Road Socialist Organization joined @cosaarpr to demand El Paso County Sheriffs Office end its political repression and systemic lynching of Black farmers in El Paso County. Freedom Acres Ranch has been the victim of a racist terror campaign since its inception and is now being targeted and harassed by the same institutions that claim to protect us all. We demand equal protection under the law for Freedom Acres Ranch! #FreedomAcres #FreedomAcresRanch
A property dispute does not explain away years of allegations involving racial intimidation, threats, dead animals and violence.
Courtney “CW” and Nicole Mallery of Freedom Acres Ranch deserve the same thing every American deserves: the ability to live, work and build on their property without fear.
Don’t just listen to me. Look up Freedom Acres Ranch. Read the history. Then help make sure their story isn’t ignored.

Black ranchers Courtney and Nicole Mallery of Freedom Acres Ranch @blackfarmlandownersmatter were in the fight of their lives—they were about to lose their 1,000 acres ranch and their freedom.
They fought back and a collective of farmers, veterans, ranchers and citizens who were exhausted by attacks on Black people responded.
A year later, Courtney and Nicole Mallery say the hardest part might be over, but the daily struggle and injustices continue because they outed a racist, violent culture in rural Colorado.
We spoke to the couple this past Spring, and as we were interviewing, they were detailing us on how things got better, but some of the same issues began to percolate again. Check out our podcast today on Ark Republic

From the soil to the soul—yesterday was powerful. 🌱✊🏾
We had the honor of gathering at Freedom Acres Ranch in Yoder, Colorado, alongside leaders and community partners from Denver NAREB, NAACP, and the Sam Cary Bar Association. Together, we stood in solidarity to uplift Black farmers, bring awareness to land rights, and advocate for justice in property ownership.
This wasn’t just an event—it was a movement rooted in history, resilience, and the ongoing fight for “Democracy in Housing.”
Through fellowship, education, and unity, we continue to build pathways to land ownership, generational wealth, and empowerment in our communities.
Thank you to CW & Nicole Mallory for opening your space and vision to us. The land tells a story—and we are committed to making sure it continues for generations to come.
