One homemade seasoning blend. Endless ways to use it. ✨
This seasoning salt is one of my kids' favorites, and we sprinkle it on potatoes, chicken, vegetables, fries... pretty much everything.
Making your own pantry staples is one of the easiest ways to save money, control the ingredients, and always have great flavor on hand.
💛 Recipe:
• 1/4 cup Real Salt (or fine sea salt)
• 2 tbsp paprika
• 1 tbsp garlic powder
• 1 tbsp onion powder
• 2 tsp black pepper
• 2 tsp turmeric
• 1 tsp celery salt
• 1 tsp mustard powder
• 1 tsp sugar (optional, but recommended for classic flavor)
Mix well and store in an airtight spice jar or mason jar.
📌 Save this recipe for later and tell me—what would you put it on first?

…..they will remember pancakes on a Tuesday,
picking flowers together in the yard,
helping me make cookies,
bareback pasture races with dad,
sitting around the dinner table playing Monopoly Deal.
I’m grateful that Jesus reminded me today that lasting memories are a string of intentional moments.

If dinner feels 10x harder at 5:30 than it did when you planned your week… this is for you. 😂
You’ve worked all day. You’re hungry. Everyone wants to know what’s for dinner. And suddenly that plan to “eat healthier this week” feels like way too much work.
This is one of the ways I make it easier.
I cook a few different proteins at once, use different seasonings so we’re not eating the same thing all week, and keep them ready in the fridge.
Then dinner can be as simple as:
protein + veggies + a high-fiber carb.
Tacos. Bowls. Salads. Stir fry. Wraps. Whatever sounds good that night.
Because you don’t need more willpower at 5:30. You need to make 5:30 easier.

Once you make homemade mayo, it’s really hard to go back.
It takes about 2 minutes, you know exactly what’s in it, and you can skip a lot of the unnecessary ingredients found in many store-bought versions.
Here’s the recipe I use most often:
🥚 Homemade Mayo
• 1 whole egg (room temperature)
• 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
• 1 tablespoon lemon juice (or apple cider vinegar)
• 1 cup light-tasting oil (I usually use avocado oil)
• ½ teaspoon salt
Add everything to a wide-mouth mason jar in the order listed. Place an immersion blender on the bottom of the jar, blend for about 10 seconds without moving it, then slowly lift the blender until the mixture is thick and creamy.
Store in the refrigerator and use within about 2 weeks.
One of my favorite parts of homesteading isn’t making everything from scratch…it’s knowing I can when I want to. Every skill you learn gives you another option, and those options add up over time.

MAKE-AHEAD BREAKFAST BURRITOS! 🌯 Sausage, egg and cheese freezer breakfast burritos... 60 of them, because I’m feeding 40 “adults” ages 18 to 25 on a Lake Powell houseboat! 😂
There is NO WAY I’m cooking every meal from scratch out on the water, so the vacation meal prep has officially begun!
9 lbs of breakfast sausage, 72 eggs, 4 lbs of quesadilla cheese and 60 tortillas... all wrapped in foil and frozen. The night before, they move to the fridge to thaw. Then they get warmed in the oven and finished on the Blackstone so the tortillas get golden and crispy. 🙌🏼
This batch makes up to 60 average size burritos, OR about 30 really loaded ones. Same batch, you just decide how full you want them! 😉
EMPTY NESTER TIP: Cut the batch in half, stuff them extra full, and you’ve got grab and go breakfast in the freezer for weeks.
Save this one for busy school mornings, road trips, ski days and every summer vacation... because the best part of a trip is being out on the water with everybody, not stuck at the stove. 🤍
Comment “BURRITO” and I’ll send you the printable recipe card, PLUS the link to that big mixing bowl everybody always asks about!
And follow along, because I have A LOT more food to prep before Lake Powell. 😅
