This might be the easiest digital film camera to carry every day. The Fuji X Half is tiny, shoot-it-one-handed tiny. And if you hold down the film crank, it actually shows you a preview of your shots, I like that. A few weeks back in Hong Kong, I had the chance to try the brand new Fujifilm #xhalf This camera is obviously fun but more than that, its tiny vertical sensor gives the images a true old-school character. For shooting vertical, you actually shoot horizontal. And when you want to shoot horizontal, you turn it vertical. It feels a bit strange at first, but you quickly get used to it with the little vertical screen. The X Half only exports JPEGs, but you get tons of film simulations and even playful effects like light leaks, giving your shots a special look and making them truly full of character. There’s also a film mode that limits you to 36 shots, just like a roll of film, with no preview until you “develop” them through the app on your phone. Personally, the X Half isn’t my main camera. But I believe it makes a great companion for people who go on small trips, little adventures, or just want to capture spontaneous moments. It’s a camera that makes photography feel playful again.
