I love bodybuilding!
But if that was the ONLY thing I did, then I’d have some serious gaps in my training.
I much prefer a blend of functional training, power and plyo work, Olympic and powerlifting, and multi-planar athletic movement.
I use bodybuilding in every session to bring up some weaker areas or work on aesthetics in a certain muscle group, but I keep my training balanced beyond that.
If you’re a bodybuilder, a bro lifter, or “optimal science based” lifter then you do you! But it’s not the only way to train!

➖ SAMPLE FUNCTIONAL TRAINING CIRCUIT ➖
💥 Featured is a sample circuit with a mix of functional upper body movements. The circuit starts with an upper push movement brining into trunk anti-flexion + side bend, directly an upper pull with an isometric hinge position, followed up with core + rotation and finishing up with a loaded carry.
💡There are many variables to take into consideration with circuits, but quite simply I like to think of movement patterns to help piece together complete circuits (push, pull, vertical/horizontal, hinge, bridge, squat/lunge, press, row, rotation, carry, conditioning, sled, etc.)
A1: Half-Kneeling Offset Front Rack Load Hold + Dumbbell Lateral Raise: x12 (Upper Push)
A2: Gorilla Rows: x10-12 (Upper Pull)
A3: High Plank Kettlebell Drag-Through: x20 (Core + Rotation)
A4: Farmer Carry: x100 feet (Loaded Conditioning)

Movement sessions aren’t there to replace strength training. They’re there to complement it.
The goal is to improve the qualities that strength training alone doesn’t fully develop — how you coordinate your body, control movement, decelerate, and change direction.
Instead of putting together random exercises you find online — ask yourself what quality am I trying to improve?
Once you understand why you're doing a drill, your training becomes far more intentional.

CORE UNDER CONTROL 🔥
A strong core isn’t just about creating movement — it’s about being able to resist it.
This one is all about staying strong while the load, leverage and instability are trying to pull you out of position. 👀
Single-leg glute bridge + mini ball squeeze
Mini ball offset chest press
BOSU pull-through
Glute bridge + kettlebell pullover
BOSU dead bug variation
The goal: resist rotation, stabilize, and stay in control through every rep.✅
And trust me… controlled does NOT mean easy. 🥵
Save this one for your next core session 🔖 and send it to someone who thinks they’ve got a strong core. 😏

No comfort. Just commitment.
This session was built to push limits and demand full focus. Powerful functional movements, high intensity, and nonstop effort from start to finish. The kind of workout that leaves you exhausted — and better than before.

Think your core is strong? Add resistance and find out🔥
This movement challenges core stability, rotational control, hip mobility and shoulder strength while forcing you to stay controlled under constant band tension.
Perfect for athletes who want to build strength and control through movement, not just in static positions.
Could you stay in control for every rep? 👀
