Tackling Racial Inequality 🇿🇦 in South Africa with @irfaanmangera | Ep 30 — An activist deeply rooted in community organizing — brings racial injustice to the forefront of the conversation. While reflecting on his journey with the @ahmed_kathrada_foundation, he highlights how the legacy of apartheid still lingers in education, housing, and access to basic services. 💡 Mangera speaks passionately about how racial inequality is not just a historical wound but a present crisis 🌍, manifesting in spatial divides, unequal schooling systems 📚, and disproportionate poverty levels among South Africans. He draws on his experience leading over 30 youth activist clubs to show how education can be a transformative tool for both healing and mobilization. 🔍 His Solutions: 1. Localized Activism: Irfaan emphasizes grassroots organizing as the starting point for dismantling inequality—mobilizing youth within their own communities to understand and challenge systemic injustices. 2. Education for Liberation: As Head of Education at @wethepeoplesa_, he advocates for a decolonized, human rights-centered curriculum that empowers youth to think critically about race, history, and democracy. 3. Cross-Racial Solidarity: He also stresses the importance of building civic alliances across racial and class lines, which is reflected in his work as Civic Alliances Coordinator at @riseformzansi. For Mangera, unity doesn’t mean ignoring differences—it means confronting them together. 4. Youth Representation in Policy: His nomination to the NYDA board is testament to his call for youth voices—especially from marginalized racial groups—to be central in shaping national development agendas.

The future of Africa will not be built by spectators. It will be shaped by those who understand power—and know how to use it. The School of Politics by Quivive Foundation is designed for the next generation of leaders, thinkers, and decision-makers ready to step into rooms that matter. This is where ambition meets structure. Where ideas are sharpened into policy. Where leadership is not assumed—but trained. If you’ve ever said “something needs to change”— this is where you start becoming the one who changes it. Not theory. Not noise. Just real preparation for real influence. The room is being built. The question is—will you be in it? Register at: https://quiviveglobal.org/schoolofpolitics/ #SchoolOfPolitics #QuiviveFoundation #AfricanLeadership #PolicyMatters #LeadershipDevelopment
At GEIC 2025, Dr. Joseph Mensah (York University) didn’t hold back on what it actually takes to dismantle racism in academia. The takeaway? We have to stop confusing intention with impact. Key highlights from the session: Accountability over Symbolism: Rules only work when there are real consequences. Beyond Tokenism: Systems must move past performative gestures to genuine structural change. Power is a Tool: Whether through advocacy or collective action, change happens when we exercise our power intentionally. Real change doesn’t come from the handbook—it comes from holding the top accountable. #GEIC2025 #GlobalEvidence #SocialJustice #Academia #Accountability #DrJosephMensah #EquityInEducation #SystemicChange #C4PBLI #GhanaEvents #HigherEd
Education changes lives. Yet millions of children still lack access to it. In London, alongside @sabrinaelba and @iholuwatoby , we brought together a packed audience focused on how to expand access to quality education around the world. Our goal is to mobilize $100 million for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund to support grassroots programmes in more than 200 countries, advancing life skills and learning through sport. $1 from every ticket sold to the @fifa Club World Cup 2025 is already committed. Now we build on that momentum. Step forward! ⭕ #Education #GlobalCitizen #FIFAEducationFund #EducationForAll #FootballForSchools
It’s been over a decade since the call for free education shook the system—so why does it still feel out of reach? If higher education is meant to develop society, can it really function as a paid commodity? Has funding support been a real solution—or just a step along the way? And if progress has been made, why are so many still left behind? Are we moving forward… or just standing still in a different place? #freeeducation #feesmustfall #bornfreepodcast #decoloniseeducation #educationforall
Some say I “poke at race” like I’m stirring the pot… But you can’t heal what you refuse to acknowledge. They say I talk about race too much…But silence is what allowed the lie to live this long. Racism feeds on confusion, half-truths, and controlled narratives. So I bring light. I bring truth. I bring context. Not to divide… but to wake up. I’m not here to fuel racism. I’m here to erase it. An eracist in a world addicted to ignorance.
