Yesterday I convened a debate in Parliament on the impact of planning on women’s safety in rural areas. I’ve previously raised concerns about the lack of joined-up thinking between planning guidance and the Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) strategy, and this was an important opportunity to put those concerns directly to Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook. Women and girls, and their safety, must be considered at a fundamental level when designing our public spaces. I will continue to push for this to be properly reflected in national planning policy. @make_space_for_girls

Congratulations to @hannahtheplumbermcr for becoming the 265th female MP in Parliament. 41% of UK MPs are now women. But that number is in jeopardy, and could be set to fall at the next general election. Make a stand for equality, and whichever political party you support, #SignUpToStand with 50:50 Parliament now. We can help you get selected and elected 💪
