My latest article is out now, or 🔗 link in bio: https://tomorrowsaffairs.com/unlocking-the-full-potential-of-quantum-computing Quantum computing is moving from theory to reality faster than many people expected. The UK recently announced that its most powerful quantum computer will be based at the University of Cambridge, in partnership with IonQ. The decision to place the UK's most powerful quantum computer at the University of Cambridge is strategic. Cambridge has a long history of scientific discovery. From physics to mathematics to computer science, the university has been a catalyst for breakthroughs that changed the world. After spending time at Mobile World Congress Barcelona learning about IBM’s Quantum System Two (I had the opportunity to meet with IBM’s Duane Martin to get more insights), this news is perfectly timed for further discussion. A technology area that still feels like science fiction to many people. Fyi, the Quantum System Two is both impressive to see in person and beautiful to the naked eye, with its intricate design and colours. Last year, I wrote about Europe’s ambition to lead the world in quantum technology. Announcements like this show that the momentum is building. But who will unlock the full potential of quantum computing first? My latest analysis explores what this announcement means for the UK economy, for European innovation, and for the global quantum race. #quantum #technology #Cambridge
