God Bless America. Happy 250th Birthday, we must resist the threats against this beautiful country. We must fight back against the DSA, a group made up of the privileged elites trying to keep immigrants and other minorities down.

When we arrived at our family property in Montana, we noticed the American flag had become faded and tattered after a long winter. We knew it was time to replace it. What we didn’t know was the proper way to retire it. After doing some research, we learned that a worn American flag should be retired respectfully, traditionally by burning it with dignity and honor. We could have quietly taken care of it ourselves. Instead, we invited our boys into the moment. As the flag burned, we talked about what it represents. The freedoms we enjoy. The men and women who have served our country. The countless lives that have been sacrificed so we can live in liberty. We talked about why we don’t worship the flag, but we do honor what it stands for. Then they pledged allegiance. Moments like these remind us why Raising Rock exists. Character is rarely built in the big moments. It’s built in the ordinary ones. A faded flag becomes a lesson in respect. A trip to the grocery store becomes a lesson in kindness. A disagreement between siblings becomes a lesson in forgiveness. A mistake becomes a lesson in humility. Children are always learning. The question is whether we’re intentional enough to help them learn the things that matter most. That’s what Raising Rock is all about: looking for the ordinary moments God gives us each day and turning them into opportunities to build respect, obedience, courage, and kindness. This Fourth of July, don’t just celebrate freedom. Teach it.
