When Crossrail cut through the edge of the site in 2013, archaeologists uncovered the remains of a young man who was malnourished, carrying the unmistakable bacterial infection. His skeleton now rests inside the museum, acting as a stark reminder that the grounds were once a place of crisis and hurried burials. Inside the chapel, many small memento mori motifs can be found, as well as gravestones set into the worn floors. I absolutely loved visiting and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for unusual things to do in London. Itโ€™s completely free to visit and is open Tuesday - Saturday each week!
