Organization is everything when you wrap a project, especially a big feature film. Here’s our method. We pulled everything out of the trailer and spread it out to count and check every piece of gear against the prep list. Making sure it’s all accounted for, organized and thorough. We clean and maintain everything before it goes back, waxing the stands and touching up gear as needed. Big thanks to Rob Richardson at Pacific Coast Grip for the 32-foot trailer. It was dialed in for this shoot and we’re reconfiguring the carts back to his setup so it’s ready for his next project. We work off two shorties for a feature like this. The dolly cube shorty handles all things dolly related, housing the dolly, dance floor, track, sliders, planks, wedges, and more. The grip shorty 40 is our main attack package with rags, frames, sandbags, everything we need to hit the ground running at the start of each day. We’ve got 12x12 and 20x20 frames ready to go for setup. These shorties stay close to set for efficiency while the trailer holds extra gear like spare rags and hardware that can be flown in when needed. It’s always nearby for quick access, keeping us ready for anything. That’s our method of attack for a feature. What’s your workflow?
