Gummo, 1997. Directed by Harmony Korine. Life in Xenia, Ohio, a small town that never recovered from the tornado that ravaged the community in the 1970s. Werner Herzog said, “When I saw a piece of fried bacon fixed to the bathroom wall in Gummo, it knocked me off my chair. [Korine’s] a very clear voice of a generation of filmmakers that is taking a new position. It’s not going to dominate world cinema, but so what?” Instead of a normal plot, Gummo shows fragments of life in a fictional small town in Ohio that has been devastated by a tornado. The film follows several young people and outsiders as they go through everyday activities — hunting stray cats, hanging out, watching TV, or just drifting through boredom and poverty. There’s no single main character or clear storyline; it feels more like a series of moments or observations. When it came out, Gummo divided audiences heavily. Some critics called it shocking or exploitative, while others praised it as bold, honest, and artistic. Over time it has gained a cult following, especially among fans of experimental cinema. The film influenced later indie filmmakers because of its fearless approach and refusal to follow conventional rules. Even today, it’s often discussed as an example of cinema that aims more to create a feeling than to tell a story.

Bu film sinirlerinizi bozabilir. Ciddi söylüyorum, hazırlıklı olun. 🎬 Gummo (1997) 🍿 Dram, Deneysel 🎦 IMDb: 6.6 Kasırga sonrası yerle bir olmuş Ohio kasabasında geçen bu filmde, toplumdan dışlanmış insanların rahatsız edici ama gerçek dünyasına giriyoruz. Hikâye değil, ruh hali anlatıyor. Gören bir daha unutamıyor. #filmarıyorum #gummo #harmonykorine #bağımsızsinema #kültfilm

Happy Easter 🐣 Gummo (1997), by Harmony Korine Channeling raw, disjointed poetry — a portrait of chaoticq nihilism in forgotten America. Pastels, but weathered. Innocence, unraveling. Tradition, reimagined through a lens that feels both tender and unsettling. An ode to beauty in the overlooked, where fragility and disorder quietly coexist. #HappyEaster #Gummo #HarmonyKorine #vhfdigital

a film that smells like rust and rainwater — shot through camcorders and cheap light, stitched from fragments of america’s forgotten corners. korine’s world is bleak but hypnotic — kids wrestle in filth, eat spaghetti in bathtubs, and dream small against a backdrop of decay. it’s not about story, it’s about texture — the static, the silence, the sense that you shouldn’t be watching but can’t look away. #harmonykorine #gummo #cultcinema #bluffreel

Dark Knight Dummo. By @trippieredd feat. @travisscott #darkknightdummo #trippieredd #travisscott #lifesatrip 2018 #rap #trap #usrap genius.com: „The title seems to be a reference to the groundbreaking 2008 Christoper Nolan Batman film, “The Dark Knight.” It also seems to make reference to @6ix9ine #gummo which is where the #dummo from the title comes from. They were recently engaged in beef after they had a fight backstage at ‘Day ‘N Night’ festival.“ ;) Personal Note: Go watch The Dark Knight, Tenet and everything else from Christopher Nolan. He's the best director out there right now.
