My 24 hour rule is simple. If something triggers the OCD, I give it 24 hours to pass and if it doesnât, I go on the offensive and do exposure work. While it has become way more rare in my life, that was the case in the last 24 hours. So I did an hour of exposure work during my flight to SF. The reality is that Iâm in the trenches just like you and I will NEVER give in to OCD and let it boss me around. I call it a warriors mentality, but I will do as many exposures as necessary to continue living the life I dream about and am proud of. Would I rather not have these thoughts? Of course. But thatâs not an option, so Iâll do what needs to be done. 24 hours and I go on the offensive. I hope this motivates you today to do what needs to be done. Youâre a warrior đđđź

If youâre terrified to talk about future commitments with your loving and safe partner, ROCD may be at play here.

It absolutely is disappointing and can feel unfair when milestone experiences are crushed because OCD shows up. You are đŻ justified in feels sad and frustrated.
Itâs tough because if we donât want ocd to show, it makes ocd much more likely to show! But if we accept that it will, it can feel like defeat. Acceptance is hard. And itâs important for you to know this happens to so many of us. I hope this helps if youâve experienced this.

Whatâs rumination? Itâs when you get stuck in a negative loop. You endlessly replay past conversations, analyze every detail, and worry about the future, searching for answers that donât exist
The problem? Rumination becomes a habit, a way to escape discomfort by staying stuck in your head. It feels productive in the moment, but itâs a trap đ

đWant help stopping rumination? Follow me @sol.culrand for practical tips and insights on breaking free from this cycle once and for all
đđźReady to take action? Here are 4 steps to kick the rumination habit:
1ď¸âŁ Drop the Illusion: Once you stop clinging to the illusion that rumination is productive, you can start taking back control
2ď¸âŁ Catch Yourself in the Act: Most believe intrusive/worry thoughts are uncontrollable. But hereâs the truth: most of the thoughts we consider intrusions are created by us, fueled by our relentless pursuit of answers to our worries or obsessions
3ď¸âŁ Stop Ruminating: Regardless of how long youâve been caught in rumination, you can always STOP. Allow thoughts to exist without engaging or paying them attention
4ď¸âŁFocus on the Present: Once you stop the rumination cycle, engage in activities you value, ones that lead you closer to your desired self and life. Remember, the intention here is crucialâengage for growth, not to suppress thoughts
đStruggling to do step 3? The key is understanding the difference between a thought entering your awareness and paying attention to it. Want to dive deeper? Comment âATTENTIONâ for a post that explains it all!
