“This is why we come up here!” 🏔️ This was adventure enthusiast Tanner Wanish’s (@ilikebigbuttress) second time walking the tightrope across Yosemite National Park’s (@yosemitenps) “Thank God Ledge” on the Northwest Face of Half Dome. This narrow ledge bridges two pitches near the top of the face, accompanied by miraculous views and a “WHOO” feeling. “Absolutely bananas position and location, and much more engaging than it looks! If you’ve got an opportunity to climb this route don’t pass it up, it never gets old!” 📽️ : @ilikebigbuttress

In Season 7 of PARK’d, we finally checked off the Half Dome hike at Yosemite! Park Rangers say this is one of the longest and steepest day hikes you’ll encounter in any national park. It has a mountaineering component that involves scaling the granite surface of Half Dome using cables to get 360 views of the park. Throughout the 19-miles and 5,000 feet in elevation gain, we witnessed the beauty of Vernal Fall, the Merced River, Little Yosemite Valley, Sub-dome and the view from the top of Half Dome after we climbed up the cables…all things we can’t wait to show off when this episode airs in November. Thank you to the incredible PARK’d team for making this happen, especially @budknapp for saying yes to doing it with me even though I intentionally left out all of the details of the hike 🤷🏼‍♀️ PARK’d Season 7 coming to @foxnation in November! #halfdome #yosemite #yosemitenationalpark

Half Dome permit system hack - if you plan out a multi day backpacking route that crosses Little Yosemite Valley… when picking up the permits, they allow you to tack on a Half Dome Summit permit without needing to enter the lottery system. We did a 3 day, 2 night trip from Tenaya Lake (Sunrise Lakes Trailhead) and ended at Happy Isles. One of the best intro to backpacking trails I’ve done. Have any of you guys dangled your feet off the Visor? Anybody want to? Disclaimer: don’t go on the edge of cliffs if you’re not comfortable with heights. Know your limits. A photo opp is not worth your life.
