🎓 Beijing Keystone Academy – Where Surprising Excellence Feels Natural
✨ Shared by Alifa Ed Tech
At first glance, Beijing Keystone Academy looks like a world-class bilingual school. But look closer—and you’ll discover a few things that may surprise you 👇
🌍 1. A Truly East-West Fusion
Keystone isn’t just bilingual—it’s bi-cultural. The curriculum doesn’t just teach Chinese and English—it weaves together Confucian principles with inquiry-based Western learning, forming a rare global mindset in every student.
🎭 2. Its Performing Arts Center Was Designed by a Harvard Architect
The school’s stunning theatre and performance spaces were designed by Preston Scott Cohen, former Chair of Architecture at Harvard GSD—making creativity as elevated as academics.
🎒 3. Boarding is a Life Skill, Not Just a Necessity
From Grade 7 onward, students can live on campus, with boarding mandatory from Grade 9. It’s not just about space—it’s about building independence, self-care, and lasting friendships in a safe, structured environment.
📚 4. IB Meets Chinese National Curriculum
Few schools manage to blend the IB MYP and DP with local educational traditions. Keystone does—and students excel at both, gaining the best of international and national systems.
🧠 5. Values-Driven and Non-Profit
Unlike many elite schools, Keystone is non-profit and deeply mission-based. Everything—facilities, teaching, care—is reinvested into the student experience, not shareholders.
🎓 6. Students Graduate into Top Global Universities
Keystone alumni go on to attend leading institutions like Stanford, Cambridge, NYU, and Tsinghua, thanks to a strong college counseling team and a deep culture of self-driven learning.

Moshe’s Harvard GSD student Ashutosh Lohana joined the Safdie Architects team for a BBQ and discussed a bit about his experience taking Moshe’s lecture this spring.
The three part lecture series explored the process of designing and building museums.
The @harvardgsd community recently awarded @ashutoshlohana the 2024 Unsung Hero Book Prize. Deserving students are nominated for the Unsung Hero Book Prize each spring by fellow GSD students, faculty, and staff, and winners are selected by a jury made up of Alumni Council members and library staff.
Congratulations @ashutoshlohana!

New Gen Architects to Spotlight. Zhang Ke
As a rising star in contemporary Chinese architecture, Zhang Ke, founder of ZAO/standardarchitecture, redefines the interplay between tradition and modernity. His vision, deeply rooted in local contexts, is exemplified by iconic projects like the revitalization of Beijing’s hutongs and poetic interventions in Tibetan landscapes. By blending aesthetic subtlety with sustainable innovation, he invites us to rethink urban spaces as living organisms, where every transformation engages with history while anticipating the future. ✨

What should I ask ??
Hi - I’m Ibie!
I’m an architecture student at Harvard GSD.
I’ve worked at firms like Gensler and HKS.
When I graduate with my M.Arch I next year, I want to enter a profession that helps people and communities, without going through the burnout!
Wouldn’t you?
Big firms have resources and support systems.
But 90% of architecture firms are under 50 people.
A small firm with 10 staff might make 1 million dollars less per year than another depending on how it’s run.
That difference affects everyone in the firm.
The next generation of architects is entering an industry that’s known for getting:
Overworked. Underpaid. Burned out.
How can we change that?
This week, the AIA conference is here in Boston.
So I’m going to be outside…asking Architects real questions about the architecture business.
- What’s working?
- What’s exhausting?
- What needs to change?
If you see me, come say hi.
My name is Ibie. @ibie99.ioj / @ibitecture
I’ll be at AIA with a lot of curiosity!
