Was he the greatest rock star that ever lived? It's 2003 and I'm 20 years old. I'm standing near the front watching @officialmotorhead live at Leeds uni. @therealbosscaine comes back from the bar with a couple of, what I can only assume are, double or triple JD and cokes just as they kick in to 'Overkill'. We go nuts and those drinks went everywhere. Nobody cares though, this is a Motorhead show and Jack Daniels is the oxygen fueling the crowd. It's such a vivid memory for me and one of the standout shows I've been to. Lemmy had a real presence but didn't seem to suffer with the ego that got the better of many rock stars. He had attitude but that was just him, not some persona he put on to be cool. I used to wear a black cowboy hat much like Lemmy's when I was a touring musician and I'd say my hat was heavily modelled on Lemmy's. I've still got it stashed away somewhere if any of you want to see it. It was great fun making this one and reminded me of when I would be re-shaping my old cowboy hat after a night out and it getting knocked off my head and stood on at shows. This one made in 100% beaver western weight.
