I’m 45, a single mom, I taught fitness for 15 years and I’m a bit embarrassed to admit that… ✔️I gained 25 pounds this past year, and I can’t push myself the way I used to push the members of my gym. ✔️Between work and my son I’m always tired, and I make excuses not to move. Even though I know movement is exactly what I need. ✔️Since my husband passed, I carried a lot on my own. I made sure my son and I had everything we needed, and I put myself last. ✔️For about a year now I’ve felt the need for change, and I’m finally understanding I have to work on myself first. Mostly on my mindset. ✔️I started walking during my son’s soccer practice. Small, but I decided to count it. ✔️This summer, while my son spent time with family, I used those free hours for weekend trips, new restaurants, anything outside my routine to feel alive again. ✔️I know now what I really need: more space in my week for myself, for movement, for rest, instead of living at full speed seven days a week. ✔️Because if I’m better in my mind and my body, that’s the energy my son and my family get from me.
