Where did the Heartagram symbol come from?
Many people think the logo was designed by Bam Margera, but that’s actually not the case. It was actually designed by Bam’s favorite rock band, HIM. More specifically, their lead singer Ville Valo designed it, who was actually friends with Bam as well.
As soon as Bam saw a HIM music video, he fell in love with their songs, and would then adopt their logo and begin to incorporate it in his tattoos, skateboards, merch, jewelry, basically everything. The Heartagram is a combination of a heart and pentagram, which is supposed to represent the balance between love and darkness.
While Bam didn’t directly create the logo, he was certainly partially responsible for popularizing the symbol and pushing it into the mainstream, as many people and artists have used the same Heartagram symbol in their aesthetics. The most notable example is Playboi Carti.
Carti has a Heartagram tattoo on his arm. Other artists on his record label Opium, such as Ken Carson and Destroy Lonely, have also used the Heartagram in their money spread pictures and tour flyers. These are three artists who are some of the most popular rappers among the youth currently.
The Heartagram is a timeless symbol, shoutout to Ville Valo for creating this design. Did yall know this?? 👀
