Our Sixth Form students along with Years 9-11, took part in an exciting Model United Nations conference last week 🌍
Representing Arctic nations (and even China), pupils debated key global issues including climate change, militarisation, and the race for resources. There was a dramatic twist involving Greenland, a $30 billion deal, and a push for independence 👀
Huge congratulations to all our delegates and lobbying groups, including Greenpeace, for such an engaging and thought-provoking event 👏

MUN- dialing the ordinary.
Moving away from the MUNdane, our students took the stage in UNGA, deliberating on ‘Strengthening Global Peace through International Cooperation’ as part of their Social Science Project.
They stepped into global issues, debated fiercely, and discovered the power of collaboration.
Kudos to all the students who actively participated in such a heart-rending debate! Your passion and dedication shone through.

Day 1 of the Model United Nations Conference has been an inspiring start for our CIS delegates. Today, our students stepped confidently into the world of global diplomacy, engaging in meaningful debates and discussions on some of the most pressing issues facing our world.
Representing different committees, our students explored critical topics such as establishing responsible international standards for Artificial Intelligence, safeguarding the human rights of migrants, eliminating violence against women, strengthening support for post-conflict states, and addressing the growing challenges of human trafficking and modern slavery. Through thoughtful dialogue, negotiation, and collaboration, our delegates demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and a strong commitment to global citizenship.
The conference was officially opened by Liliana Soka, an inspiring alumna of the host school who spent five years in MUN. She now represents the South Pacific on key regional issues and was also involved in COP30 discussions, she encouraged delegates to use their voices to shape solutions for the challenges facing our region and the world.
We are incredibly proud of our CIS students for their confident participation, diplomacy, and dedication on the first day of the conference.
✨ We look forward to another exciting day of debate and collaboration tomorrow!

Education is facing a polycrisis – from unequal access and widening inequality to AI disruption, climate instability and polarisation.
Last week, United World Colleges brought together a panel of global experts and youth advocates to confront these challenges and explore how education must evolve – from expanding inclusion, adopting values-based learning, to generating collective responsibility.
🔗 The conversation was filled with bold ideas and healthy disagreement. If you missed this compelling webinar, watch the full recording (LINK IN BIO).

On March 6th - 8th, our students participated in an outstanding Model United Nations conference, debating some of the most complex and pressing issues facing the world today. Topics included the regulation of genetic engineering and cryptocurrency, the governance of the illegal organ trade and surrogacy industry, the threat or use of nuclear weapons, the use of technology to support refugee welfare and management, the protection of the rights of climate refugees and stateless persons, and the militarization and weaponization of outer space.
Throughout the conference, our students demonstrated impressive maturity, confidence, and critical thinking while engaging in debates of an exceptionally high standard. They responded thoughtfully to challenging rebuttals, raised insightful Points of Information, and worked collaboratively to help shape fair and balanced resolutions.
Experiences like this highlight the value of Model United Nations in developing leadership, diplomacy, and global awareness. We look forward to continuing to support our students in attending conferences like this in the future and expanding opportunities for even more students to participate.
Well done to all students involved for representing the school with such professionalism and enthusiasm. 🌍👏 Here is a short video recap highlighting the hard work in their committees as well as some of the fun moments they shared in between sessions.
