POV: This is the London most people never get to see… ✨ Most people think of London’s famous landmarks, but it’s the hidden cobbled lanes and tucked-away front doors that tell the real story. This quiet corner feels like stepping back in time. The rich burgundy door, aged brickwork and cobbled street create a timeless charm that’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. Would you stop and explore this hidden street? 👇 #FrontDoorLondon #HiddenLondon #LondonArchitecture #LondonStreets #LondonLife
Step into London’s hidden history. Behind me lie the ruins of Winchester Palace, but the real story belongs to the “Winchester Geese.” In medieval times, this was the local term for the women working in the unregulated brothels of Southwark. Though the Bishop of Winchester heavily taxed their trade to fund his own lavish lifestyle, these women were denied a proper Christian burial because of their profession. Instead, they were laid to rest in unconsecrated ground at Crossbones Graveyard. Centuries later, during construction works, archaeologists uncovered their remains including those of unborn children. A powerful reminder of the forgotten souls who shaped London’s past. #LondonHistory #HiddenLondon #WinchesterPalace #CrossbonesGraveyard

POV: You walked into London’s most haunted place…🕯️🪦⁣ ⁣ Hidden among the trees of North London, Highgate Cemetery feels like stepping into another world — winding paths, overgrown tombs, dramatic Gothic architecture and centuries of stories waiting to be discovered.⁣ ⁣ It’s the final resting place of some of Britain’s most notable figures, including Karl Marx, but honestly, the cemetery itself is the real attraction. Nature has slowly taken over the monuments, creating an atmosphere that feels almost magical.⁣ ⁣ If you’re looking for a side of London that’s mysterious, historic and completely different from the usual tourist spots, put Highgate Cemetery on your list.⁣ ⁣ 📍 Highgate Cemetery, London #londontravel #visitlondon #london4all #london🇬🇧 #hiddenlondon

London’s hidden gem has finally reopened! ✨🎨🖼️ Today marks the first day that Banqueting House has opened its doors to visitors after an exciting transformation – and it’s one of the most underrated historic spots in the capital ♥️ Step inside the last surviving part of the magnificent Palace of Whitehall and look up to discover Sir Peter Paul Rubens’ breathtaking ceiling masterpiece – the only surviving Rubens ceiling painting still displayed exactly where it was created nearly 400 years ago. Commissioned by Charles I, the nine monumental canvases celebrate the reign of James I and are packed with incredible symbolism, mythology and royal history. But this building has witnessed history too… it was here that Charles I walked beneath the very ceiling he commissioned before his execution outside in 1649. With a brand-new visitor experience and, for the first time ever, step-free access to the Great Hall, there’s never been a better time to visit this remarkable piece of London’s history. 📍 Banqueting House, Whitehall, London SW1A 2ER 🚇 Westminster Underground (5-minute walk) / Charing Cross (10-minute walk) 🎟️ Adults from £10, Concessions £8, Under 16s & Historic Royal Palaces members go free 📆 1 August – 20 September 2026 ⏳ Thursday–Monday 10:00am–4:00pm (last entry 3:00pm) 👗 @jjshouseofficial Antosia Sheath/Column Lace Dress (431559) and apply the code ani0707 10% off promo code *Pr gift* *PR Invite* @historicroyalpalaces Have you ever visited Banqueting House? 👀✨ #BanquetingHouse #HiddenLondon #VisitLondon #SecretLondon #LondonDaysOut

If you’ve ever walked past the corner where Garrick Street meets St Martin’s Lane, you might have spotted this little piece of London history hiding in plain sight. Back in the day, directing traffic at this chaotic junction was a full-time job. With five streets meeting in one spot, point duty officers were out here in all weather. That small metal hook mounted on the wall, known as the Policeman’s Hook was put there specifically so officers could hang up their heavy coats while directing horses and early motorcars. London is full of these tiny details if you know where to look! #LondonHistory #HiddenLondon #LondonSecrets #LondonTaxiDriver #CabbieKaren
