nontraditional things I do as a licensed Houston nail tech: - I don’t offer long/xlong length nails. My best work is done on short-medium length nails. I also love doing natural nails as well. It’s what I’m the best at & it’s what brings me the most joy. I felt that longer sets would take me forever to complete and leave me feeling super drained. - I don’t offer heavy nail art. I do my best work on solid color sets, frenchies, & simple nail art. The multi layered nail designs with the heavy 3D sculpted nail art is just not my ministry. I think it’s beautiful but it’s not something I enjoy doing and I think you’re supposed to enjoy what you do for work if you want to excel in it. The more simple stuff is my niche. - I don’t work on Sundays. That is my reset day. My personal day that I take for just me. I’m super big on structure and self care. Sundays are for prioritizing that. - I don’t take more than 3 clients a day if I can help it (burn out). I think it’s important to know your limits as a nail tech. I don’t like to take more than 3 clients a day because I know for me that is my max. - my prices include designs, length & shape. I hated having to decide how much to charge for every little thing. I also hated having the option for Add ons on my booking website because they were never being utilized. Like ever. I kept hearing “oh I forgot to add it on”. It was like pulling teeth trying to explain that not only is your price not accurate, but the timing is now off as well because add ons require extra time. so I increased my prices & the time slots for appointments to include everything.
