The place that really blew up AYCE Korean BBQ to what it is today in Las Vegas was Hwaro. There were mostly à la carte or combo KBBQ spots until Hwaro opened almost a decade ago. They made things like “the Sh!t” appetizer, affogato, and unique selections of meat more common and trendy. They’ve since rebranded to an “Asian BBQ” concept that’s more Japanese leaning. It also has sushi: nigiri, hand rolls, cut rolls, and even carpaccio. I like how they just have one price or a lunch option so you don’t feel like you’re missing out. If you miss the original menu of Hwaro, Hwaro 2 has it up the street in another plaza! 📍 @hwaro.lv

FIRST CHARCOAL KBBQ in Melbourne is doing something no other KBBQ restaurant is @hwaro @hwaro_bbq Hwaro is Melbourne’s first charcoal KBBQ in Melbourne which has offers a select premium meat, aged to perfection and cooked to your preference at your table. Everyone seems to be lining up for this place and I get why - it’s pretty much a slice of Korea and the dining culture 🇰🇷 🥩 HWARO set B - wagyu scotch fillet, wagyu tender strip, wagyu cube, garlic ox tongue, wagyu bulgogi 170 4.5/5 🥩 LA Galbi 38 🦑 kimchi & squid pancake 22 3.8/5 loved this flavour more than seafood surprisingly but not enough batter 🍤 seafood pancake 24 3.9/5 🌶️ spicy yang-bokkeum (stir fired tripe) 26 3.8/5 (tripe chewy, but flav is 4.5/5) 🍜 yukhoe spicy cold noodles 26 4/5 Highlight was definitely those meats - barely required any dipping if anything, nothing at all. So rich and fatty, and its juices have enough flavour. It can get a bit heavy so their condiments and sides will cut through it. Their side dishes and entrees are solid choices to enjoy but not much variety here compared to other KBBQ restaurants. The focus here is their wagyu meats which I’ll probs order more of next time. Fed a table of 5 but still had space for a little bit more food, so a little pricey.
