His love for programming started with video games?! 🕹🎮 Hernán is an IBM developer and consultant -- if you are starting out in your coding journey, here are a few tips from him to improve your skills. 🌟👇🏽 . 1️⃣ Baby Steps “It’s good practice to break large tasks into several smaller tasks. I recommend starting small and then putting everything together. This way, your code will be neater and easier to understand.” . 2️⃣ Leave comments “Don't forget to document and comment on your code! It’s likely that, in the future, you will see your code again and have to know what you did; it won't be easy to remember.” . 3️⃣ Asking for help is okay, and necessary. “Many times, you will have doubts about how to do something, or you’ll simply not know how to do it. Whenever you have the opportunity to ask someone who knows, take it.” . 4️⃣ NEVER let failure defeat you. “I think of programming as if it were a video game. Each error that I solve is like winning a level – you can spend hours trying to solve it. It is a game in which one has to beat the computer.” . 5️⃣ Don't get frustrated. “At the beginning, you might spend 5 HOURS with a problem... that's normal. As you gain experience, it will take less time to solve problems and that time will decrease.” . 6️⃣Debug. Always debug! "If something doesn't work, the first thing to do is debug to see where the problem may be. Debugging requires patience, experience and good practices." 💻 Thanks for watching my coding journey!
