From Kirk Alyn’s pioneering 1948 portrayal to George Reeves’ warm optimism in the 1950s, each era gave us a different face of courage. Then came Christopher Reeve — pure charisma and grace, the very definition of what it meant to believe a man could fly. The ‘90s brought Dean Cain’s charm in Lois & Clark, and later Brandon Routh’s reverent homage in Superman Returns (2006) — a bridge between nostalgia and modern myth. Then Henry Cavill’s Man of Steel reshaped the legend with raw strength and inner conflict — a reflection of our darker, more complex times. And now, David Corenswet takes flight in 2025, carrying both legacy and rebirth — the eternal son of two worlds. As an Art Director 🎬, what fascinates me is how each version of Superman mirrors our collective idea of hope — through costume, lighting, and tone.
