The Song Kurt Wrote About His Own Audience “In Bloom” — Nevermind (Released September 24, 1991) — Live at Reading Festival — August 30, 1992 Nirvana performed “In Bloom” at Reading Festival on August 30, 1992, less than a year after Nevermind changed the band’s trajectory. By this point, the album had sold millions, and Nirvana had become the most visible band in alternative rock. “In Bloom” was written before Nevermind exploded, but its meaning sharpened afterward. The lyrics target the type of listener who enjoys the aggression without understanding the intent — “He’s the one who likes all our pretty songs / And he likes to sing along / But he don’t know what it means.” Kurt Cobain openly acknowledged the song was about people who embraced the surface but missed the critique underneath. It’s one of the few tracks where he addressed the audience directly. At Reading ’92 — a performance often cited as one of their strongest — the band played it tight and fast, with Dave Grohl driving the tempo and Krist Novoselic locking the bassline that anchors the song’s structure. By then, “In Bloom” had shifted from commentary to real-time observation. The crowd knew every word. — #Nirvana #InBloom #Reading1992 #Nevermind #90sRock

The scream that changed my life… Who has been following me since my OG viral video? It’s been almost 5 years, since it was posted. I have now performed all over world in front of thousands and thousands of people but nothing feels as good as just letting go and having fun. I love this song. Yep, that’s the same hair band I wore. I am so, so, so grateful for everything that has happened to me since this video. BUT this is just the beginning, I have been writing lots of new songs I can’t wait for you to hear! If you are watching my videos for the first time, you can learn more about my journey in my book ‘The life changing magic of drumming’ (it’s on Amazon). #drum #drums #drumming #drummer #drummergirl #girldrummer #cymbal #percussion #femaledrummer #femaledrummers #batterie #percussão #baterista #zildjiancovers #fyp #blackgirlmagic #nirvana #inbloom #KurtCobain #lifechangingmagicofdrumming #questlove #questlovepocketkit #ludwig #zildjian #vicfirth #girldrummer #drummergirl #viral #viralvideo Thank you: @ludwigdrumshq @zildjiancompany @vicfirth @sontronics @roland - Interface @hearingcarectr

In bloom 🌸 This mesmerizing animation by artist and photographer @fabrizioquinoa is the result of five months of meticulous, analog experimentation. Composed of 325 hand-printed flowers, each frame was created using the historic cyanotype process—an ultraviolet printing method that transforms botanical forms into deep, ethereal blue two-dimensional impressions. Through this slow and meditative technique, Quiñones explores the intersection of time, transformation, and the natural world—each flower at every stage creating a layered rhythm of evolution. The result is not just a film, but a ritual in motion—a hand-crafted ode to the patience it takes to evolve.

Kurt Cobain wrote In Bloom to mock the exact people who would make it a hit. The jocks. The gun guys. The ones singing along without hearing a single word. He spelled it out in the chorus: you like our pretty songs, but you don't know what they mean. A diss track disguised as an anthem. After Nevermind exploded, stadiums full of people screamed those lyrics back at him, proving his point in real time. The music video makes it sharper. Suits on a fake Ed Sullivan set, playing nice for the cameras. Then dresses, smashing everything. Structure versus chaos. Persona versus self. Butch Vig had to trick Kurt into double-tracking his vocals by telling him Lennon did it. Kurt hated the polish. But that polish is what let the Trojan Horse through the gates. Millions of people loved a song that was laughing at them. That's not irony. That's prophecy. #KurtCobain #Nirvana #InBloom #Nevermind #GrungeMusic #90sMusic #MusicHistory #RockMusic #MusicTrivia #AlternativeRock #ButchVig #MusicProduction #IconicSongs #MusicAnalysis #CulturalCommentary #RockLegends #NirvanaFans #MusicTheory #90sNostalgia #ClassicRock

In Bloom 🌸 It’s time! Run don’t walk to see these blossoms! The Kwanzan cherry blossoms are now in peak bloom on the Bridal Path, located between 85th and 90th Street, alongside the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. This is one of our favorite spots in the city! Some of the gorgeous pink blooms create a tunnel-like effect on the walking path, and it’s pure magic. Filmed today, April 16th at 7:30am. @centralparknyc #springinnyc #nyc #inbloom
