This is our first Father’s Day without my Pop Pop. As I was looking through old videos, I found myself wondering… Is there a Father’s Day in Heaven? Do they know we’re thinking about them a little extra today? Do they hear the stories we still tell, the traditions we still keep, and the love that never really leaves? I don’t know the answers. But I do know that grief is just love with nowhere to go. Today I’m thinking about my Pop Pop and all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures who left their mark on our lives. Yesterday would have been your 35th birthday. 🤍 Today is mine. For the first time in my life, we’re not celebrating together. We should have been singing DtMF together tonight. Instead, I’m holding on to an old Polaroid of us together. You were always my better half. I hope you knew that. ❤️ I miss our crazy laughter, the kind that made everyone stare at us. 🤍 I miss your voice, your messages, your dry humor, your crazy jokes, and all the little things I thought would always be there. This morning I went to visit my mum’s grave, which is just next door to my dad’s house here in Norfolk. 🤍 It was such a beautiful, peaceful morning. I watered the plants next to the grave and just sat quietly beside her for a while. In the beginning, I found it really hard to sit there, but now I can. There’s something very comforting about being close to her and having that quiet time together.
