5 dumb things I did to become a better Director 1. I watched old movies. Not movies in the early 2000s old but like the 1940s old. They have some unique perspectives that most people forget about and I try to implement that into my films. Black and white pictures are the best TBH 2. When someone said do I know how to shoot certain films and they wanted me to do it. I said yes even if I had no experience in it. I just told myself in my head that I’ll figure it out. The key is to stay confident. 3. When I had a film idea that is big and different. I spent all my money to shoot the project. And thought about the consequences later. My mindset is if I want to be somewhere I never been then I have to do something I never done 4. I’ll take a pen and paper and watch movies like it’s a test. I’ll make write certain details and movements just to see what the director has done and why. 5. I’ll go and work on any set possible and get the numbers of the director and ask to shadow them even they thought I was annoying #filmdirector #indiefilmmaking #filmmakers

5 dumb things I did to become a better Director 1. Studying the classics. I’m talking 1940s and 50s cinema. Modern films are great but the golden era had a way of storytelling that most current people ignore. So, make sure u go back in time and watch em. 2. Saying "yes" before I was ready. When a client asked for a specific style I’d never touched, I agreed instantly. I didn't have the skill yet, but I had the confidence to figure it out by the deadline. 3. Investing in a vision. If a concept was big enough, I’d invest in the production myself. Don't do this on everything, only if essential! 4. Treating movies like homework. I sit down with a notebook and breakdown every scene. If a shot works I write down why it works. 5. Being the "annoying" guy on set. I’d work any gig just to get face time with a Director. I’d grab their contact info and bug them for a chance to shadow! So, be persistent. I’ve got a massive community for filmmakers comment 'JOIN' to be part of it.
