Usually I’m a big advocate for the insulin pump but let’s share some real pains too because hey, how will we demand better technology? None of my marketing is ever paid, just genuine feedback and experiences with the Medtronic automated insulin delivery system as a type 1 diabetic. This is a huge inconvenience, they solved the calibration with the G4 but not this. Waiting for Simplera?? Hate these 2 hours when I’m not used to finger pricks and have to be in the blind about how to take insulin for those 2 hours. Anyone agree? . #medtronic #insulinpump #type1diabetic #cgm #diabetestechnology

‘This is my super pump!’ Technology is transforming the way Ava-Rose manages her type 1 diabetes. Watch as she shows off her very own 'super pump’, which acts as an artificial pancreas. This system uses a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) and an insulin pump to manage Ava-Rose’s blood sugar levels. This system automatically adjusts the amount of insulin Ava-Rose receives. Her mum, Lisa said, ‘Thanks to this ground-breaking device, she is able to just be a four-year-old, we don’t have to think about injections or what she’s eating.’ The 10 Year Health Plan aims for more devices like this to become standard in preventative, chronic and follow-up care treatments across the NHS. Find out more, search ‘NHS hybrid closed loop diabetes’.
a glimpse at our chaos during the holidays 🤗 despite 1 failed insulin pump, 1 dexcom without signal, having to share an insulin pen (we had extra needles this time don’t worry) and maybe an out of range sugar or 2… all 7 of us diabetics over here enjoyed AND survived christmas 🤞 that’s all that matters right? happy holidays! love, the krueger fam <3 #t1d #t1dlookslikeme #diabetes #typeonediabetes #type1
I have NEVER had a 6 A1C EVER. I can’t believe I even decided to record with 4 seconds left of the test JUST IN CASE. I am a Type 1 Diabetic and I finally reached the 6’s ONE WEEK before I officially start an insulin pump, a decision I was going to announce once I start, but I am so SO proud to see this A1C. I have reached a point where I can’t customize my insulin enough with pens alone without consequences of very highs or very lows, and need to be able to give myself very small amounts of insulin only achievable with a pump (or vials, I suppose). I will explain more when I start my pump, but to see this number for ME PERSONALLY with just my insulin pens that I have been on is an insanely huge win, and I have been wanting to see a 6 A1C for 19 years. If you have ever struggled as a Type 1 Diabetic, you know the feeling of seeing this. I have been 7-8 for the last 15 years at least. I am shaking. This has been VERY DIFFICULT for me to achieve for the last THREE MONTHS. I am so… so proud of myself for seeing this number before I start my first insulin pump ever. I will take you guys along for my pump journey when the time comes and explain in more detail for those who don’t understand, but for now… 6.7!! #type1diabetic #t1d #diabetes
Big day. After years of injections, I’m starting an insulin pump today. New chapter. Same mission: Take control, learn, adapt, live. #type1

Double site changgggge, let’s go 🤖💪 To be honest, I never knew there was anything we could do or put on our skin after doing a site change, so I just never put anything on and accepted a little skin irritation here and there. I felt so seen and excited when I found out about @laviorpharma, because their skincare products are specifically made for people living with diabetes and wear medical devices. I’ve been using their hydrogel after changing my CGM and insulin pump, and it really helps those little marks we get from the needle and adhesive heal so much faster, so we can use that same site again sooner! You can check them out at Walmart and on their website at Lavior.com #diabetesempowerment #diabetes #t1d #t1dlookslikeme #type1diabetes #sitechange #insulinpump #cgm #podchange #type1diabetic
The studio has a no-phone policy, so I used to tell every instructor before class that I have Type 1 diabetes and may need to glance at my phone because it’s connected to my Dexcom and insulin pump. Recently a manager told me I didn’t need to remind instructors anymore, that it’s noted under my name when I check in. So this time, I didn’t. Halfway through class I discreetly glanced at my phone (hidden under my towel) just to confirm my blood sugar was stable… and the instructor yelled right over my mat, over the music: “Put your phone away. No phones in class.” Apparently she didn’t see the note. So I’ll be going back to telling each instructor before class. I spent the rest of class fighting back tears. I know it probably seemed small, but it hit me harder than I expected. I don’t WANT to rely on my phone 24/7. I don’t WANT to be the exception. But managing Type 1 diabetes doesn’t pause for studio policies. And being called out in front of a full class was embarrassing. Have you ever been called out while managing your diabetes? #type1diabetes #t1d #t1dlookslikeme #dexcom #insulinpump
