If you have seen the movie Fury, this verse already lives in your chest. Shia LaBeouf plays Boyd “Bible” Swan — a tank gunner in the final weeks of World War II. He earned his nickname because he quotes Scripture constantly. Not performatively. Not to preach at people. Because it is the only thing holding him together in the middle of hell. Near the end of the film, the crew is facing certain death. An entire German battalion is approaching and they are alone. The youngest crew member, Norman, whispers back “Send me.” Then Brad Pitt’s character — the hardened, battle-scarred sergeant who once called himself the devil’s own — quietly says “Book of Isaiah.
