when people go all the way to Greece and only visit Mykonos and Santorini… they miss one of the most beautiful islands
📍Kefalonia, Greece
home to dramatic cliffs, some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen, hidden beaches, mountain villages, sea turtles, and sunsets that somehow still feel underrated.
If you’re planning a Greece trip, here’s why I’d add Kefalonia to your itinerary:
Don’t miss:
• Myrtos Beach (go early or stay for sunset)
• Fteri Beach (boat or hike in)
• Assos Village
• Fiskardo
• Melissani Cave
• Antisamos Beach
• A drive through the mountains for incredible viewpoints
A few tips:
✔️ Rent a car — the island is HUGE and this is the best way to explore.
✔️ Stay at least 3–5 days so you’re not rushing.
✔️ Visit in June or September for amazing weather and fewer crowds.
✔️ Build in time for spontaneous beach and viewpoint stops!
Kefalonia is wild, authentic, and surprisingly uncrowded compared to many of Greece’s more famous islands. It quickly became one of my favorites.

2 days Muscat
1 day Wadi Shab
2 days Wahiba Sands
1 day Jebel Akhdar
2 days Nizwa
1 day Dimaniyat Islands
Day 1-2
Explore Mutrah Souq and the fort overlooking the old town. Wake up early and go to Sultan Qaboos Mosque for the opening at 8am. Spend 1-2 hours here and spend the day exploring more of Muscat or lounge at the hotel or go to one of the many beaches. For sunset hike up to Hamriyah Viewpoint.
Day 3
Leave Muscat and stop at Bimmah Sinkhole on your way to Wadi Shab. Spend the day hiking to Wadi Shab. This is a natural canyon pool right in Tiwi and it was the highlight of our trip. There are some crazy canyons, waterfalls and cliff jumping spots. We stayed the night in Tiwi!
Day 4-5
Head to your desert camp! Explore the dunes for sunset Do one of the desert camp activities like camel riding, hot air balloon riding, or just simply walk into the dunes. We stayed at Thousand Nights Camp and loved it.
Day 6
Explore the area of Jebel Akhdar and stay in a cool hotel in the mountains. Do some hiking or relax, taking in the views.
Day 7-8
Walk around Nizwa and go shopping and enjoy some of the cafes and restaurants. Make sure to go to Nizwa Fort, the old souq and the wall walk!
Day 9 head back to Muscat and
cruise to the Dimaniyat Islands by going on a half day boat tour. These islands are beautiful and is a must on any Oman trip. You need to book this in advance and most tours leave from Muscat.
Day 10 fly or bus out of Muscat. Oman is only a 6 hour bus from Dubai
