Now more than ever, it’s crucial that we come together to support organizations in our community deeply affected by harmful policies. 💛 Today, we’re highlighting the Korean American Family Service Center (KAFSC)—an incredible non-profit which is committed to preventing and ending domestic and gender-based violence, providing counseling, education, advocacy, and support for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse in the Korean American and broader Asian American communities in the Tri-State area. Their culturally competent services are life-changing and life-saving. Jeehae Fischer serves as the Executive Director of Korean American Family Service Center in Queens, New York (@kafsc_ny) Beginning her career as a self-sufficiency coordinator, Jeehae describes that the work KAFSC does is multifaceted: coordinating transitional housing, emergency housing, case management, a 24/7 hotline, and job training programs, among countless other services. Tuesday, January 9, 2024 KACE @kacempowerment and KAFSC @kafsc_ny met with social workers from South Korea's Women Migrants Center Saleo-On of Incheon, Incheon Namdong-Gu Family Center, and Yeongdeungpo-Gu Family Center. We had a very productive meeting and deep conversations and discussions, including raising up the next generation, crucial services and support systems of domestic violence survivors, income inequality, mental health, identity as Koreans living in South Korea and those of us living abroad in the diaspora, and finding ways to work together to help bring about a better tomorrow. We all learned so much from one another. Thank you for visiting and speaking with us! = = = = = = = = = = Women Migrants Center Saleo-On of Incheon (인천이주여성센터살러온) is a government funded social service center for battered immigrant women in South Korea, working with those women in the Incheon and Gyeonggi Province. Incheon Namdong-Gu Family Center (남동구가족센터) is a social service / social work center for families in South Korea and is a part of the Korea Family Center Association, a network of 214 several family centers located in each Gu-District nationwide (in South Korea). Namdong-Gu is one of 9 Gu-Districts in Incheon, South Korea, and is home to a large number of migrants in South Korea including foreign workers from high concentrations of industrial complexes. Yeongdeungpo-Gu Family Center (영등포구가족센터) is a social service / social work center for families in South Korea and is also part of the Korea Family Center Association, a network of 214 several family centers located in each Gu-District nationwide (in South Korea). Yeungdeungpo-Gu is the most immigrant/migrant populated district in Seoul and has a large population of those with Chinese heritage. = = = = = = = = = = #Solidarity #Compassion
