How do you know if your athlete needs a mental performance coach?
Here are four specific signs I see every single day in my coaching work.
1. The practice player — loose and confident in warmups, tight and stiff the moment the game starts.
1. One bad moment and they are gone — strikes out once and checks out, walks one batter and unravels, cannot flush and reset.
1. The error prisoner — makes one mistake and spends the rest of the game hoping the ball does not come back to them.
1. The passive undecided player — hesitant, never fully committed, waiting instead of attacking.
None of these are talent problems. They are mental game problems. And every single one is coachable.
If this sounds like your athlete here is your next step.

Most hitters think it’s about reaction speed. It’s not. The real challenge is switching speeds. Your brain locks onto a 100 mph fastball, then suddenly has to adjust to an 80 mph off-speed pitch dropping out of the zone.
That split second decision is visual, not just physical.
Elite training is not just reps in the cage. It is training the eyes and brain to handle unpredictable changes. Speed shifts. Pitch recognition. Timing adjustments under pressure.
The best programs combine mechanics with visual demand. They make practice harder than the game. That is how athletes build real hitting consistency against high level pitching.
This is where athletes separate themselves. Not just by strength or swing, but by how fast they process what they see.

One of the hardest lessons for athletes to learn is this: the outcome cannot be the focus.
Wins, stats, rankings, scholarships, playing time. Those things matter, but they cannot be the reason an athlete shows up. When the outcome becomes the only goal, emotions rise and fall with every game, every mistake, every decision a coach makes.
The athletes who grow the most understand something different. They commit to the process.
The process is the daily work when no one is watching. It is showing up to practice with intention. It is responding well after a mistake. It is controlling attitude, effort, and preparation even when the results have not caught up yet.
The process is where confidence is built.
When athletes learn to fall in love with the work itself, the outcome takes care of itself more often than not. And even when it doesn’t, they are still growing into stronger competitors and stronger people.
Process over outcome. Always.
If this resonates with you or your athlete, drop the word PROCESS in the comments. And if your athlete struggles with focusing on results instead of growth, send me a message. That’s exactly the work we do.

Shoutout to the neph @tcaldwell.35 and all his hard work. Dude got ridiculously stronger, more explosive and fast this off season. Hes already natually very skilled at his sport, has that dawg in him and is a good athlete but the fun part is we are just getting started here📈
Sadly most rely on their natural ability or just skill training to go next level. You will quickly realise there is no substitute for strength/athleticism and performance training and no excuse for the lack of it. The best in the world are all of those things and more📶
YOU HAVE TO TRAIN & FOLLOW A PROVEN PROGRAM TO REALLY IMPROVE & TAITS SEEING THE BENIFITS OF HIS LABORS ON TOP OF HIS NATURAL ABILITY. The goal here is to help you reach YOUR max potential.
Stay humble and stay hungry and Keep ballin out big dawg! Im pulling up to a game soon 🫱🏻🫲🏼

The missing link… 👀
A lot of athletes are working hard.
Lifting. Throwing. Training.
But they’re not getting better the way they should.
Why?
Because they don’t actually know what’s holding them back.
It’s not always more reps.
It’s not always more effort.
It’s usually something you’re not seeing.
Mobility restrictions.
Poor sequencing.
Energy leaks in your movement.
That’s the difference between guys who stay the same…
and guys who take a jump.
So ask yourself:
Do you actually know your weaknesses?
And more importantly… do you have a plan to fix them?
If not, that’s where we come in.

You can’t out-train a system that isn’t working properly.
Most people chase more reps, more strength, more coaching…
But performance doesn’t start in the muscles —
it starts in the nervous system.
As a dad, that part hits different.
You see the effort. You see the work.
You just want it to translate.
Sometimes the gap isn’t effort.
It’s how well the body can actually use what it’s been given.
Curious how many athletes are leaving performance on the table because of that.

Baseball isn’t just about strength or mechanics…
It’s about how fast your brain can react.
This young athlete is training:
• Reaction time
• Visual tracking
• Hand-eye coordination
• Balance under movement
Because in baseball, milliseconds matter.
The difference between a hit and a strike…
A catch and a miss…
A great play and a late reaction…
It all comes down to how efficiently the brain processes information.
When you train the brain, you unlock:
• Faster decision-making
• Better timing at the plate
• Sharper field awareness
• More confidence under pressure
Most athletes only train the body.
The best athletes train both.
