POV: When you love the @buffalosbills so much, you get your prosthetic leg emblazoned with their logo! That’s what Mariah, 12, did after receiving surgery at Shriners Children’s New England to correct a leg-length difference. Her new prosthesis improved Mariah’s gait and lets her get around with less pain. #Leaders in Care #LLLDAM #Orthopedics #GoBills
After losing her leg, Lindi Marcussen was told there were things she’d never do again — like running or wearing heels. Turns out, that wasn’t true. Sometimes it’s not about what’s possible or not —it’s about having the right tools to get there. Because being an athlete and expressing yourself aren’t opposites. And getting that feeling back? That’s power. #WeEmpowerPeople #Ottobock #LLLDAM
Every disability comes with a unique set of challenges. I am a firm believer that when we share about our lived experiences, we help others either by educating, inspiring, motivating or offering a different perspective. I encourage you to follow any amputee and learn about experiences with limb loss/limb difference. Every story is unique. Every person, special. To my amputee friends, thank you for your support, guidance and solidarity. Happy LLLDAM🧡 💋tg #toughliketammy #amputeelife #amputeesofinstagram #llldam Amputees i recommend getting to know: @fakeleggreg @harrietkaypmhnp @brokenbarbie11 @ky_lpch @jesse__david @monique_s_manna @zimri_solis @miss.italia.39 @chris.linnitt @andrebarbieri @a_de_atenea
It’s limb loss and and limb difference awareness month. Love on your favorite amputee this month and spread the love. #LLLDAM #limbdifferenceawareness #amputee #amputeelife
Today we’re joined by Lindi Marcusen, Paralympic athlete, public speaker, and all-around inspiring individual. 💙 Lindi shares that what makes #LLLDAM special to her is the chance for peoples’ understanding of the limb loss and limb difference community to be deepened through shared experiences like hers. Not everyone is familiar with the struggles (or triumphs) of those with mobility issues, and a month dedicated to shining a light on those stories is a powerful way to raise even more awareness. Lindi also touches on what it was like to experience her very first running blade and the impact it had on her entire outlook. ✨ #WeEmpowerPeople #LLLDAM2026 #AdaptiveSports
April is Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month, and it’s important to highlight how far we’ve come, as well as the progress still too be made. Everyone deserves a chance to chase their purpose. . . . #llldam #amputee #amputeelife #limbloss #limblossawarenessmonth #walkbyfaith #d1athlete #prosthetics #faithoverfear #faithjourney #amputeecoalition
After losing her arms and legs to sepsis, Torie received two Hero Arms from an anonymous donor. Her reaction is exactly why we created this technology. I tried my hardest to edit this video without crying. 💙🦾 • • #heroarm #openbionics #llldam #limbdifferenceawareness
It’s easy to underestimate what a human hand can do. Over 25 bones. More than 30 muscles. Thousands of sensory receptors working together — all in one of the most complex systems in the body. That’s exactly what makes replicating it so challenging. But step by step, engineering is catching up. From multiple grip patterns to myoelectric control, prosthetic hands are becoming more intuitive and closer to natural movement with every generation. Take the Michelangelo Hand — designed to mimic the human hand down to the smallest components. What would make a prosthetic hand feel more natural to you? #WeEmpowerPeople #Ottobock #LLLDAM
All jokes aside, here’s a fun fact 🤭 I used to loveeeee getting my nails done. If I still had them, you bet I’d be at the salon all the time! 💅🏼 It made me feel so pretty, you know? But then life threw me a curveball, and I lost a part of myself. It made me realise something really important. I used to believe that without those perfect nails, I wouldn’t feel beautiful 💔 I’m all for boosting confidence, but I’ve learned the hard way not to overvalue physical appearance over what truly matters — what’s on the inside. Because things change. Skin gets wrinkles, stretch marks can appear, weight goes up and down, hair can get thiner, and like me, even part of your body can be lost ❤️‍🩹 True beauty isn’t just about how perfect your nails look or what’s on the outside. It’s about how you feel about yourself deep down. It’s about strength, kindness, and loving yourself, flaws and all. Today, I stand here not worrying about what my hands look like, but feeling incredible because of the love and confidence I have inside. I know who I am and what I have to offer. Maybe it’s not the prettiest set of nails, hands, or legs, but I can confidently say I’m proud of who I am. Let’s celebrate our uniqueness and remember that real beauty comes from within. ✨ Don’t let your mind trick you into overvaluing physical appearance over what truly matters — what’s on the inside. ily 🫶🏼 #funnyreel #limbloss #limblossawareness #limbdifference #limbdifferenceawareness #amputeelife #prostheticleg #disabilityawareness #inclusionmatters #representationmatters #darkhumor #disabledandproud #realbodies #loveyourbodynow #loveyourselfmore #wearwhatyoulove #selflovetips ##llldam #llldam2024 #loveyourbodynow #weartheshorts #bodypositivity #selfacceptancejourney #ขาเทียม #รักตัวเอง #ชีวิตคิดบวก #แรงบันดาลใจ #ขำๆ #คนไทย #คนไทยในออสเตรเลีย Do you love getting your nails done? 💅🏼✨
#WeEmpowerPeople #Ottobock #LLLDAM
A few weeks ago my friends at @ottobock asked me if I wanted to do the @statesmancap10k in Austin, TX. My initial reaction was “Sure… why not? This can be my 1 hard thing I do as an amputee this year since I’ve never done a 10K before” but little did I know that 1 week after I agreed to participate that I would discover my WHY… So while attending the @tirrmemorialhermann Amputee Support Clinic event (thanks @kristin_reeves_pt my amazing PT & @vin_vrajabhumi my awesome PM&R doc) I got to hear the powerful testimony of 17 year old @ava_solizzz who just became an above-knee-amputee just a few months ago due to her battle with osteosarcoma cancer 🎗️ Her vulnerability, courage, and faith lit a fire inside of me that afternoon that I knew was going to propel me in that 10K. Unbeknownst to Ava and her family, whenever I approached the last mile and a half of the race, I decided to remove my Genium X4 prosthetic leg 🦿 and finish the 10K using only my forearm crutches 🩼 🩼 in honor of Ava and where she is currently at in her limb loss journey. What I’ve learned in my 2.5 years as an amputee is that there are TOUGH days and there are BEAUTIFUL days and oftentimes the TOUGHEST of days can have the MOST BEAUTIFUL endings, and that’s exactly what I got to experience this past Sunday 🙏🏻 As many of you know, April is #LLLDAM #LimbLoss #LimbDifference Awareness Month 🦿🦾 so a special shoutout to everyone who made this possible! THANK YOU @ottobock_northamerica @ottobockcare_northamerica for inviting me to be on your team 🙌🏻 @andy_carmody for being my 🦿Caddy and 🎥 man 🤘🏻 @darren_lancaster & @gosleeves for keeping my only real knee safe and secured! 🦵 @drewtflanagan and @toritgreen for being my cheerleaders 📣 @ayalabuddy and @kathi.ayala.737 for teaching me to always FINISH STRONG! 💪🏼 #Amputee #Lymphedema #FAITHoverFEAR #Community #Advocacy #Family #Love
