I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Blake Willis since he was just 7 years old. The phrase “tiny but mighty” described Blake perfectly back then—and it still does today! Blake battles with every ounce of his body every time he steps on the field. Lightning speed, full power, and a mighty heart.♥️ He’s a true competitor who puts in the work, trusts the process, and pushes everyone around him to be better. Blake stepped onto the varsity field as a freshman and never looked back. Following in his father’s Palmetto baseball footsteps, there’s no doubt he bleeds red and black. Baseball is more than a game. And today reminded all of us why. In a moment that nobody is ever prepared for, everything stopped. The game didn’t matter. The score didn’t matter. What mattered was a young man, a family, and a group of people choosing to show up for each other the right way. Nobody moved. Everybody stayed. We want to thank PFA for how they showed up in that moment. That’s not something you coach. That’s who you are. That’s what both of these programs are built on — character, respect, and doing the right thing when it matters most. Landon carries himself with a composure that radiates toughness. Along the way he’s faced adversity, but he came back stronger than ever. He put in the work, stayed the course, and continues to shine. Whether he’s dealing on the mound, stretching for the out at first base, or tracking one down in right field, Landon shows the kind of effort and passion that makes the game special. Huge thanks to everyone who helped organize the jersey retirement ceremony, and a big thank you to everyone who came out to support. It was a special night, not only honoring past players, but inspiring the future baseball players who will come through Kinder High School. There aren’t many small schools that can say they’ve had three players climb that mountain. I grew up watching and looking up to Charlie Kingrey. He played a huge role in shaping my self-belief. Every ballplayer needs someone who sets the standard and raises the bar, and I’m truly thankful that bar is now on display for all the young players to see. Moments like this matter. They help shape the future success of the program. #21 #21 #23
