Lake Austin will be seeing a ban on all personal and commercial boats, that includes jet skis/paddle boards/kayaks etc.. . For the first time in nearly a decade, Lake Austin will lower its water This fall, the City of Austin and LCRA are lowering Lake Austin about 10 feet. It starts October 12 and will be refilled November 24-30th. Here’s what that means if the lake is part of your life: Public boat ramps will be closed, so plan your fall on the water around it. It’s a rare window for lakefront owners to repair docks, bulkheads, and boat slips while the water’s low. Part of the reason is maintenance, and part is giving the lake a chance to knock back the hydrilla, an invasive plant that’s crept back in and hurts water quality. 🦅🦅 around Austin! Tripping on this little foil boat. The future is here. At about 15mph it would rise out of the water and that’s when it felt like you were flying! Capped it out at about 35mph to keep it safe. Just hoping we didn’t breach on foil! Austin, Texas 🌊❤️ — It’s incredible to watch the Highland Lakes system doing exactly what it was designed to do. After Lake Travis got to full pool it released water for the first time since 2019. It is now making its way downstream. The releases continue through Tom Miller Dam, sending water from Lake Austin into Lady Bird Lake before continuing along the Colorado River. Moments like this remind you just how connected Austin’s lakes really are.
