Save this for your next outdoor project & follow along for more real-life DIY with kids I let my toddler design our DIY mud kitchen… and let’s just say ✨creative control✨ was taken VERY seriously She picked the colors, “helped” every step, and reminded me that motherhood isn’t about rushing… it’s about slowing down and letting them be part of it If you’ve been needing a sign to say yes to the mess, the paint, the extra time… this is it. #diymom #toddleractivities #sahmomlife #mudkitchen #craftymomma @homedepot @dollartree
I didn’t even know what a mud kitchen was until last week… Funny how fast you go from “what even is that?” to “we built one". The things we do to put a smile on our kids faces. #mudkitchen #diydad #outdoorkids #corememories

We had a great time building an outdoor play mud kitchen, and I’m excited about how it turned out! The kids love it and the Best part is that most of this was reclaimed and free ..and so was the labor, thanks to my husband! #kidsplay #outdoorplay #backyardkids #mudkitchen
this mud kitchen went viral a few years ago… and it ended up being one of the best things we ever made for our kids 🤍 It gave them hours of messy, outdoor play and years later, they still come back to it every spring🌸🪏 #viralvídeo #mudkitchen #diy #spring #outdoorplay
Hands down the most well loved item in our backyard by any age kid that comes over is our mud kitchen! 👩🏼‍🍳 my husband built this on a whim last winter with no plans and it was the best thing he ever did with some scrap wood and a few hours 🌸 #diy #backyard #mudkitchen #sahm #toddlerplayideas
Just in time for spring! 🌱 Built this mud kitchen for our kids using an old utility sink and 2x4s. We used extra Trex decking (that we already had) for the surface and backsplash, but lumber or plywood works just as well. Materials: Utility sink, dimensional lumber, Trex decking/plywood/lumber for surface + backsplash Steps: 1. Build frame from dimensional lumber 2. Install deck board tops (or material of choice) 3. Remove sink legs and set sink in framed opening 4. Drill hole and install water pump (detail coming in Part 2) 5. Install vertical wall supports + backsplash 6. Install perimeter trim board Part 2 coming soon — we added a manual water pump that actually recycles water 👀 Follow so you don’t miss it! If you’re new here from our monkey bar project — welcome! 👋 We’re a family that loves DIY home projects and outdoor adventures. We also own, The Aspen Echo - a mountain vacation rental (that we built) in Grand Lake, CO 🏔️ Excited to have you here! #mudkitchen #diybackyard #outdoorkidspace #backyarddiy #diyhomeproject
How to keep your kids outside this spring/summer ☀️ And I'm not going to gatekeep how to build one! Follow along - The exact plans I follow are coming soon @kaylachristinedesign #mudkitchen #outdoorplay #getoutside #springiscoming
We built this DIY mud kitchen for the kids and it’s already their favorite backyard spot 🌿 Materials we used: - 12 treated fence pickets - (4) 8-ft treated 2x4s - 2 stainless steel sink bowls (we grabbed ours from Amazon) Quick how-to: 1.) determine the desired height and width (ours was 48 inches tall, and 60 inches wide). 2.) cut two back legs (from 2x4) to your full desired height, and five pickets to full desired width, then nail or screw together. 3.) for sink counter, cut five pickets 61 inches long. 4.) cut two front legs out of the treated 2x4 to 25 1/2 inches. 5.) cut two pickets to 25 1/2 inches. 6.) using the two 25 1/2 inch pieces, the two front legs and one of the 61 inch pickets, create a three sided frame for the counter. 7.) attach a final 60 inch picket 5/8 of an inch below the backsplash pickets to create a ledge for the countertop. 8.) cut four cross members to support both sides of both sink hole openings. 9.) attach three sided frame squarely to the backsplash frame. 10.) nail or screw the remaining 61 inch pickets down to counter frame and cut holes for sink openings. Simple, affordable, and perfect for hours of messy outdoor play 🙌🏻 Comment MUD for the link to the bowls & accessories. #outdoorkids #mudkitchen #screenfreefun #handmade #diy
I have been dreaming of a mud kitchen for our boys for a few years now so when we had a few extra pallets left over from another project I knew it was worth executing on! I shared a few concepts (aka reels) with my husband and he ran with the idea just using things we had around the house. 3 pallets, 2 cinder blocks and a few old bowls are all it took to bring this dream to life! I have some ideas on more features to add and am just waiting on using up a laundry detergent bottle so they have a spout for water 😂 but I also want to give our kids time to explore and make it their OWN. I am excited to see how they use it and what they end up wanting to build/ add to it themselves. Even in the cold rain this is such a nice little play space for them - though we all are looking forward to sunny days to come. ☀️ What are some fun ways your kids have used their mud kitchens? 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳 #toddlerplayideas #mudkitchen #diypallet #preschool #pretendplay

Join me as I refresh our mud kitchen ☀️🤎 I brushed, wiped, sanded & stained our mud kitchen to get it refreshed for this season! We bought this mud kitchen last year on Amazon (we have it set up on the backside of our kids’ playset). We enjoy our mud kitchen & the great opportunities it provides for outdoor sensory & pretend play ✨ Stay tuned as we finish up the refresh and finish painting our rock food as well🤗 #momlife #mudkitchen #outdoorplay #activitiesforkids #sensoryplay
