#LeafHopper
While exploring the Indonesian jungle, I came across this leafhopper nymph…
(Btw you might actually be looking at a species that no one has ever seen before lol)
And it did its famous little dance !🕺

One thing is for sure. This leafhopper knows how to groove like there's no tomorrow! Rhythmically rocking from side to side, the little insect exhibits behavior found in many other critters like mantids and stick bugs. As of now, 2 main theories exist to explain such a jubilant movement.
The most popular idea presents the concept that such bugs sway in order to mimic debris in the wind going back and forth. Others have suggested that the swinging helps them to distinguish objects from the background by using relative motion. Whatever this case, this guy should hit the dance floor!

Beethoven’s wig was not available as audio for this reel. Too bad. Here is a tiny “wig” on my hand. I assume it is a leafhopper nymph covered in waxy secretions that form long curly fibers that disguise the nymph as a bigger bug

Insects preparing to jump. Did you know that insects, like this leafhopper, will sway back and forth to judge distance and create a sense of space before jumping? Sometimes it looks like they're doing a little dance, but the sciency part is really that they're making sure they miscalculate their sometimes lengthy jumps! Some of you will recognize this little critter (no, not John Cena) from the Gooby Woobies video.. it is Glubtubbis Wepple.

It's not very often I manage to stack one of these dudes they always have a tendency to turn away nonstop, so I'm pretty stoked about this. I took it at the weekend while in cotswolds
