Rest in peace, Leah. We love you. We hope you’re wiggling for eternity without any scars. ❤️‍🩹 We got to give Leah a beautiful last day full of love, and she passed peacefully in the grass surrounded by some of the many people who became her family. By some stroke of fate, Leah became ours. 🫶 She already lived through some of the ugliest parts of humanity before that. She came to the shelter at 6 yo, emaciated, with open wounds, after her owner begged police to get her away from a domestic abuser. Even after all of that, she was still sweet and full of love. She was loved by so many fosters and friends during her time with RAD. Each person gave her exactly what she needed in that chapter. It feels meant to be that her circle kept growing through all of her hops, because being loved was Leah’s favorite thing in the world. Even in her last hours, if one of us stepped away for a second, she would cry until we all came back together. That was Leah. She loved her people. 🥺 When her seizures came back, we did everything we could to get her answers and keep her safe. In the end, we got to protect her. Her final moments were not in fear, not in chaos, and not in the wrong hands. She was held, kissed, comforted, and deeply loved.❤️ Leah could have so easily become a long stay shelter dog. She could have ended up in a very different situation. Instead, she became ours, and we became her family. ❤️ We will love Leah every day forever. And we’ll remember to live a little more like Leah, soaking up the good, loving hard, and appreciating the people around us.
