An estimated 20% of all Americans have dyslexia, according to the Yale Center for Dyslexia & Creativity. Dan Bracken, a South Carolina father of four, including two kids with dyslexia, says President Trump’s recent comments about learning disabilities create real “consequences for kids in the classroom.” “The president has tremendous power in our community because we are a very solid conservative state,” Bracken told me. “He has the ability to drive a narrative, and I sat on it for a couple of days because it’s risky to speak out
but I did what I think any dad would do to defend their children.” In an interview w/ @stephruhle, Trump did not walk back his comments about California Gavin Newsom or his suggestion that a president should not have learning disabilities. Bracken, who identifies as Republican despite not voting for Trump, says for his kids, dyslexia is their “superpower.” “Our brains just work differently, but different is beautiful,” he added. “It’s not deficient.” #dyslexia #trump #gavinnewsom
After walking away from traditional, institutionalised asylum models, I developed the Azaria Grid. It breaks behavioral health into 5 core verticals across both children and adults: 1ïžâƒŁ Mental Health (Neurotransmitter imbalances) 2ïžâƒŁ Intellectual Development Disabilities (Autism, learning disabilities) 3ïžâƒŁ Social & Emotional Issues (Abuse, neglect) 4ïžâƒŁ Acquired Conditions (Tumors, trauma) 5ïžâƒŁ Degenerative Conditions We proved this model works with Cambian, and now we are bringing this targeted approach to India with @sukoonhealth . It’s time to move past “containment” and start focusing on actual recovery.
President Trump on Monday said California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D) dyslexia should disqualify him from becoming president. “Gavin ‘Newscum’ has admitted that he is a — that he has learning disabilities,” the president said, using a derisive nickname. “Honestly, I’m all for people with learning disabilities, but not for my president. I don’t want — I think a president should not have learning disabilities, okay? And I know it’s highly controversial to say such a horrible thing.” “The president of the United States, Gavin Newscum, admitted that he has learning disabilities, dyslexia,” President Trump continued. “Everything about him is dumb.” Watch more by tapping the link in our bio. #trump #gavinnewsom #dyslexia #cspan
đŸŽ„ WATCH: Gavin Newsom responds to Trump saying that presidents shouldn’t have learning disabilities, based on Newsom’s openness about his dyslexia: “What hurts me about that is how many kids and families were hurt by the statement,” the California governor tells Axios’ Alex Thompson. 👀 Did you catch the latest episode of The Axios Show over the weekend? A Million Acts of Hope is about shining a light on what’s good in the world - and you don’t have to look very far. Last week, I met Floyd, a youth worker at @caxton_youthclub. He’s quietly doing amazing things, helping young people with learning disabilities and autism gain the skills and confidence to go out and thrive. Our country can feel so divided at times. But in a world where the news is too full of what’s bad, Floyd, and all the people like him give me hope. So, thank you Floyd - for doing small acts every day that make an extraordinary difference. That’s the heart of #MillionActsOfHope. Thank someone who gives you hope today. Tag them in the comments. 💛

“It’s okay” if you don’t like to read YET. Reading likes you! You are a capable reader. Books are always here for you, wait until you find the one for you â˜șïžđŸ’š Video Description: Mychal the Librarian tells the @isteconnects audience he often gets asked, “What do you say to kids who say they don’t like to read?” He acknowledges his answer may shock some people because he tells library kids IT’S OKAY. He has learned library kids may be dyslexic, they may have learning disabilities, they may be addressing their neurodivergence, and reading is a difficulty. He encourages meeting readers where they’re at, seeking to meet them when they’re ready to read. This is how we create more readers. By reminding them they are always worthy of reading when they’re ready. Let them read Dog Man 1,000 times! Graphic novels are real reading, audiobooks are real reading. Reading takes time âŁïž
Happy to attend the South West Community Inno Lab Symposium held at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between South West CDC and the IHLs in November 2024, our students have embarked on a meaningful journey with community partners, agencies, GRLs and residents to better understand challenges in the community and co-create practical solutions. It is heartening to see how shared aspirations have grown into tangible outcomes through strong partnerships and collaboration. For the past one and a half years, students have translated problem statements into ideas, prototypes and solutions addressing a wide range of community needs, from a tech driven solution to improve accessibility for seniors and residents with mobility needs, to a platform supporting students with learning disabilities and their families. What is especially meaningful is seeing our youths take their learning beyond the classroom to tackle real community challenges on the ground. The students demonstrated the spirit of community ownership that we champion in the South West District. Thank you to all our IHLs, community partners, grassroots organisations, agencies and students for your passion and commitment to making a positive impact in our community.

“It’s helped me build my self-esteem and make new friends.” 💛 There are so many benefits to volunteering and for Sejal, it was to build her communication skills and meet new people whilst giving back. Sejal joined our team over 13 years ago, inspired by her mum who had also volunteered. Sejal has learning disabilities and was initially nervous to start the role but has embraced what volunteering in retail can offer and has since developed her skills and confidence along the way. Could you volunteer and learn new skills like Sejal? Find flexible roles to suit you at govo.org today.
