Chicago Police Superintendent Larry Snelling emphasizes that federal agents, including ICE and HSI, are recognized law enforcement officers protected under the law. He cautions that actions such as blocking or boxing in their vehicles create a reasonable perception of an ambush. In such situations, officers may lawfully assess a threat to their safety and deploy necessary force.
The Superintendent highlights that obstructing or deliberately ramming any law enforcement vehicle whether local, state, or federal constitutes a serious crime and qualifies as deadly force. He warns that taking the law into one's own hands puts both civilians and officers in severe danger. While acknowledging the strong public emotions surrounding federal operations, he urges compliance to prevent dangerous escalations.
Addressing local policy, the Superintendent clarifies that while Chicago police do not interfere with federal duties, they also do not participate in civil immigration enforcement. Their primary mandate remains maintaining public safety and de-escalating potential violence. His statement reinforces a firm call for public restraint to avoid converting enforcement actions into life-threatening encounters.

Can we use WhatsApp chat as evidence in court?? Courts opinion⚖️
1. M/S. Karuna Abhushan Pvt. Ltd v. Shri Achal Kedia (Delhi HC) - recognized that a “Double Blue Tick” acts as proof that the recipient received and read the message. In corporate law, leaving a critical claim on a blue tick without denying it can be treated by courts as an implied admission of fact.
2. Dell International Services v. Adeel Feroze (Delhi HC)- This case serves as a warning that even if your messages are 100% genuine, they will be legally rejected if your lawyer fails to submit the correct Section 63 BSA (formerly 65B IEA) compliance certificate.
3. SBI Cards & Payment Services v. Rohit Jadhav (Bombay High Court): The court legally recognized the operational features of WhatsApp. It ruled that if a legal notice or a debt notification sent via WhatsApp shows a “Double Blue Tick,” it constitutes valid service of notice. Leaving a serious monetary demand on a blue tick without denying it can be argued as an implied admission of debt.
4. Smt. Anjali Sharma v. Raman Upadhyay (Madhya Pradesh High Court): The High Court permitted a husband to rely on his wife’s private WhatsApp chats to prove allegations of adultery, even though the husband accessed her phone and retrieved the chats without her explicit consent. The court held that the right to privacy must yield to a litigant’s right to a fair trial under the Family Courts Act.
5. Arjun Panditrao Khotkar v. Kailash Kushanrao Gorantyal (2020) SC- The court ruled that a certificate is not required only if you bring the actual physical device (Primary Evidence) directly to the courtroom and present the live chat. This principle directly translates to Section 63 of the BSA.

Breaking News : Reports of Increased Airport Immigration Enforcement
According to The New York Times, the Trump administration has reportedly begun arresting certain foreign nationals with expired U.S. visas at airports as part of expanded immigration enforcement efforts.
The report states that some individuals affected include spouses of U.S. citizens, skilled workers, and others with pending immigration applications. Immigration attorneys say the actions may reflect a broader coordination between the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
If you have an expired visa, a pending immigration application, or concerns about your immigration status, it is important to understand your rights and seek qualified legal guidance before traveling.
Stay informed. Stay prepared.

No Foreclosure of Right: Even if a defendant fails to file a Written Statement (WS) within the statutory timeline and their right to file it is closed. their right to cross-examine the plaintiff's witnesses is not lost.
The Logic: The primary purpose of cross-examination is to elicit the truth and impeach the credibility of the witness.
Denying a defendant the right to test the plaintiff's evidence merely because they couldn't file a WS would leave them "in the lurch" and violate principles of natural justice.
