Sometimes I have those random bits of meat left in the freezer that are just not quite enough for a family meal.. This time, I had 2 kampung drumsticks and 2 kampung thighs left. Not even enough for my 4 kids, but actually the perfect amount for my husband.. He’s a chicken lover and drumsticks and thighs are his favourite parts. Usually, when I cook them for the family, he barely gets any because the kids will be asking for them too.. So today, these were all his! No little mouths coming over asking, “Daddy, can I have it?” 🤣 I put together this simple meal in less than 30 minutes, mainly just letting it simmer by itself.. Served with hot rice and some spring onions, it’s a total rice killer! So so bomb! If you’re a rice lover, this is dangerously addictive k? We love an involved Dad 🙌 (REPOST) We also love an involved mom 🙌 (but that is not a phrase that we use is it?) Involved mom. It sounds silly. Even reading it. It’s just a given. I’m grateful that my husband works to provide for our family and he is grateful that I work to provide for our family too. I’m grateful when he gives me alone time and he’s grateful when I give him alone time. It breaks my heart that so many women are in partnerships that either don’t allow for them to have breaks or time to themselves or they are made to feel as though anytime they are not with their children they should either feel guilty or extremely lucky. Also, cooking and cleaning alone may feel like a break. But it's not. It’s nice sometimes, but it's not break. Women and men both continue to be individuals with human needs for autonomy, rest, play, and even the chance to get things done without somebody undoing it right behind you. But the reality is that we’re set up to feel like It’s a given that men continue to do and be all those things, while the narrative tells women it’s not normal or given. We’re “ lucky“ that he takes the kids. We should feel guilty for wanting to be alone. Heck, it’s gotten to the point that some of us even feel guilty for not feeling guilty. That says something about what’s been normalized in our society. But even when we fight against the guilt and when we do things alone, or we allow our partners to parent like parents do… there’s a little voice that says “you should be there too or you’re missing out”. I say no. I say we change the narrative. We fight the guilt. We fight the social norms. Yes, let’s be grateful for our partners, but let’s not pedestalize men who do regulate parenting things. They also deserve the chance to build relationships with the kids outside of us. #parenting #canadianmoms #relatablemama #familytime #momma #parenthood #motherhoodunplugged #honestmotherhood #momshelpingmoms #honestmom #lifeathome #lifewithkids #tiredmom

I love this beautiful new addition to my favourite spot in my studio! 😍 I needed more storage space in the studio & I wanted something that would fit in seamlessly coz I haven’t changed this wall in over a decade! So I customised this beautiful BESTÅ piece at @ikea.india that looks like it always belonged here & now I have tonnes of extra storage too! Why BESTÅ ? 1️⃣ It comes with a 10 year warranty so its built to last!Perfect for someone like me that takes a decade to change a wall 😂 2️⃣ Its super sturdy! Each shelf can hold up to 25 kgs of weight! 3️⃣Totally customisable! I choose every little detail on this piece right from the legs to how many drawers I want, how the doors open & so on. 4️⃣ And obviously coz IKEA furniture comes with a 365-day return policy you really don’t have to worry about anything!
