While this linocut print is still detailed, as it was going to be used as a new logo for @thepatchcic I needed to keep these details bold enough to not be lost when used on a smaller scale and for the image to hold as much presence up close as afar. This isn’t a consideration I normally have to address in my work but I’m happy that it works well for its purpose and more importantly the customer is happy too 🥰.
While this linocut print is still detailed, as it was going to be used as a new logo for @thepatchcic I needed to keep these details bold enough to not be lost when used on a smaller scale and for the image to hold as much presence up close as afar. This isn’t a consideration I normally have to address in my work but I’m happy that it works well for its purpose and more importantly the customer is happy too 🥰.

Happy Yorkshire Day! Sharing this collagraph and linocut print I made a few years ago for my Father-in-laws birthday (he's a big fan of @yorkshiretea ) The landscape layer was made using Yorkshire tea and tea bags to make a collagraph plate which I then inked up and put through the printing press with damp paper. The lettering was carved using linocut to create stamps which I then printed on top of the dried collagraph. #printmaking #collagraph #linocut

Patrick Piccinelli , « Brighton, Summer 1983 » , collage, linocut print on paper, 65X50 cm, 2025. I love this city and its seaside, and for me, this place expresses both joy and nostalgia. The work features a palette of bright colors (brilliant blues, oranges, yellows) that evokes Brighton’s characteristically colorful houses. The fragmented, geometric style of the work, with its superimposed blocks of color and clean-cut shapes, reflects Brighton’s eclectic energy and spirit. This collage on paper mixed with a linocut print is also a tribute to the song “Rumble In Brighton” by British band The Stray Cats. The sharp contrasts in the image (black against bright colors) symbolize Brighton’s duality: elegant seaside town on one side, center of alternative subcultures on the other. Focusing on lines and form puts me in a nearly meditative state—it slows my breath, clears my mind. This project reminded me that to find the line, you sometimes have to reject everything else. Sounds a bit metaphorical, doesn’t it? I’m using Somerset Satin 300gsm paper from @st.cuthberts.mill, and I’m honoured to be one of their ambassadors. Printed in a limited edition of 50.
